Maple Cricket Club
Maple Club is a multi-sport club in Barbados. Maple's cricket team play in the Barbados Cricket Association Division 1 championship. Maple is based in Holetown, Saint James with the home ground at Trents playing fields. The club emblem is the maple leaf. Its colours have always been black and white with the green maple leaf emblem. The club motto is ''Palmam qui meruit ferat'' (Let him who deserves it win the prize). Since its first official sport was football and it expected to participate in other sports during 1959 and beyond, it did not name any sport in its official name. Barbados Cricket Association
The Barbados Cricket Association is the ruling body for cricket in Barbados. The BCA was established in 1933 by an Act of Parliament to replace the Barbados Cricket Challenge Cup Committee, which had administered Barbadian cricket since its formation in 1892. The current president is Conde Riley. Of the seven teams which participate in the inaugural season in 1892, four are still competing today – Lodge, Harrison College, Pickwick and Wanderers. From this small beginning the cricket fraternity has grown to such an extent that there are now 128 teams representing 82 clubs participating in the BCA's competitions. Essex County Cricket Club
Essex County Cricket Club is one of eighteen first-class county clubs within the domestic cricket structure of England and Wales. It represents the historic county of Essex. Founded in 1876, the club had minor county status until 1894 when it was promoted to first-class status pending its entry into the County Championship in 1895, since then the team has played in every top-level domestic cricket competition in England. Essex currently play all their home games at the County Cricket Ground, Chelmsford. Cricket Teams In Barbados
Cricket is a bat-and-ball game played between two teams of eleven players on a field at the centre of which is a pitch with a wicket at each end, each comprising two bails balanced on three stumps. The batting side scores runs by striking the ball bowled at one of the wickets with the bat and then running between the wickets, while the bowling and fielding side tries to prevent this (by preventing the ball from leaving the field, and getting the ball to either wicket) and dismiss each batter (so they are "out"). Means of dismissal include being bowled, when the ball hits the stumps and dislodges the bails, and by the fielding side either catching the ball after it is hit by the bat, but before it hits the ground, or hitting a wicket with the ball before a batter can cross the crease in front of the wicket. Barrington Yearwood
Barrington Bjorn Beckenbauer Yearwood (born 18 August 1986) is a Barbadian cricketer, similar in his short build to West Indies international Tino Best. Yearwood caught the eye in August 2003 when he took 7/37 for Barbados Under-19s against their Leeward Islands equivalents in the TCL Regional Under 19 Challenge; his captain Martin Nurse said that Yearwood had bowled with both pace and swing, and had bowled "very, very well"; while Yearwood himself said that he had "big goals" he wanted to achieve. He made his debut in List A cricket in early October 2003, when he represented West Indies Under-19s against Antigua and Barbuda in the 2003–04 Red Stripe Bowl. Kirk Edwards
Kirk Anton Edwards (born 3 November 1984) is a West Indies former international cricketer. He played as a right-handed batsman, domestically mainly for Barbados. Domestic career In May 2018, he was selected to play for the Windward Islands national cricket team in the Professional Cricket League draft, ahead of the 2018–19 season. In October 2019, he was named as the captain of the Windward Islands for the 2019–20 Regional Super50 tournament. Kemar Roach
Kemar Andre Jamal Roach (born 30 June 1988) is a Barbadian international cricketer who plays for the West Indies. He played in the 2006 U-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka and has represented the West Indies in Test and One Day International cricket. Roach made his Test debut in 2009 against Bangladesh when the West Indies team was weakened due to a player strike, and impressed with his bowling so that he was given an opportunity to play when the team returned to its full strength. A fast bowler, Roach is capable of express speeds and has reached on a number of occasions, and was the 7th fastest active bowler as of 3 January 2015. Twenty20 (T20) is a shortened game format of cricket. At the professional level, it was introduced by the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) in 2003 for the inter-county competition. Limited overs cricket, also known as one-day cricket or white ball cricket, is a version of the sport of cricket in which a match is generally completed in one day. There are a number of formats, including List A cricket (8-hour games), Twenty20 cricket (3-hour games), and 100-ball cricket (2.5 hours). The name reflects the rule that in the match each team bowls a set maximum number of overs (sets of 6 legal balls), usually between 20 and 50, although shorter and longer forms of limited overs cricket have been played. Barbados National Cricket Team
The Barbados national cricket team is the national cricket team of Barbados, organised by the Barbados Cricket Association (BCA). Barbados is a member of the West Indies Cricket Board (WICB), which is a member of the International Cricket Council (ICC) in its own right, and Barbadians play internationally for the West Indies cricket team.
