Baptiste Manzini
Baptiste John "Bap" Manzini (August 27, 1920 – May 9, 2008) was a professional American football center and high school football coach. Manzini was born August 27, 1920, in Treveskyn, Pennsylvania. He attended Saint Vincent College, where he was an all-state center. Upon graduation, he joined the United States Air Force. He played in three seasons in the National Football League, 1944 and 1945 for the Philadelphia Eagles and 1948, one game for the Detroit Lions and three games again for the Eagles. When his playing career ended, he coached high school football in Pennsylvania for 30 years at the former Bellmar High School and at Thomas Jefferson High School. Overall, his record was 203–74–8. Carlo Antonio Manzini
Conte Carlo Antonio Manzini (1599–1677/1678) was an Italian astronomer and mathematician. (His last name is sometimes given as Mangini or Mansini). Biography A member of the Bolognese nobility, he was a member of the Accademia dei Gelati and one of the founders of the Accademia dei Vespertini. Manzini published works on various phenomena, including comets, geodesy, and declination of the compass. In 1626 he published ''Tabulae primi mobilis: quibus nova dirigendi ars et praecipue circuli positionis inventio, non minus facilis quam exacta ostenditur''. This volume presented tables for the construction of astrological charts. His 1660 work, ''L'occhiale all'occhio, dioptrica practica'', is one of the oldest accounts of the techniques for manufacturing lenses through grinding and polishing. Gianna Manzini (March 24, 1896 – August 31, 1974) was an Italian writer whose ''Ritratto in piedi'' won her the Premio Campiello in 1971. It is a semi-autobiographical portrait of her father, an Italian anarchist. After several banishments for his political activities, her anarchist father was exiled to the small hilltop town of Cutigliano in 1921, 25 km northwest of Pistoia, where he would die of a heart attack in 1925 after being chased by fascist hoodlums. Mike Manzini (born 29 November 1972 in Hoedspruit, Limpopo) is a South African former association football defender. He spent his entire career at Premier Soccer League club Mamelodi Sundowns and also played for South Africa. Manzini was Sundowns' ever-reliable and efficient captain who made well over 250 appearances for the club.
