Manvel High School is a public high school located along Texas State Highway 6 in the city of Manvel, Texas, USA. It is a part of the Alvin Independent School District located in northern Brazoria County. In 2017, the school was rated " Met Standard" by the Texas Education Agency, with a 1-Star Distinction for Academic Achievement in Top 25 Percent Student Progress. History Manvel High School opened in Fall 2006 with only 9th and 10th grades. The high school, one of five to be established in the suburban areas of Greater Houston in 2006, was projected to have 706 students in its first year. By 2008 it had 1,200 students, and by 2009 it had 1,630 students. Manvel High School, Alvin ISD's second high school, was established to serve the western portion of Alvin ISD, and provided relief for Alvin High School upon the opening. Manvel is a city in Brazoria County, Texas, United States. As of the 2020 census the population was 9,992, up from 5,179 at the 2010 census. History The population increased from 5,179 to 9,992 from 2010 to 2020, and in November 2021 there were 12,000 lots in twelve housing complexes that were to be developed. Iowa Colony, Texas
Iowa Colony is an incorporated Home Rule City in Brazoria County, Texas, United States, in the Houston metropolitan area. As of the 2010 census the city has a population of 1,170. History Iowa Colony was founded in 1908 by the Immigration Land Company of Des Moines, Iowa, and received its name from Iowans G. I. Hoffmann and Robert Beard. The community received a post office in 1919, and rice farming was introduced there in 1920. Although not directly on a railroad line, Iowa Colony was served by the Gulf, Colorado and Santa Fe line through nearby Manvel. The population grew slowly to twenty-seven and remained at that level until the mid-1960s. The discovery of oil in 1948 brought regional employment to the area.
