Muhammad Tulus or better known by his :wikt:mononym, mononym Tulus (born August 20, 1987) is an Indonesian singer of Minangkabau people, Minangkabau descent. Early life Tulus was born in Bukittinggi, West Sumatra, Indonesia. Career Albums His debut album, ''Tulus (album), Tulus'', was released in 2011. ''Rolling Stone#International editions, Rolling Stone Indonesia'' put this album on the top chart of Indonesia's Best Album and awarded for Tulus as Rookie of The Year in 2013. His second album, ''Gajah (Tulus album), Gajah'', was released in 2013. 88,000 copies were produced and distributed since then, one of the largest CD productions in Indonesia (2014–2015). It was the only music album in the Indonesian language that was listed in The Top 10 Best Selling Music Album in iTunes Asia, two months in a row after it was released. Bukittinggi ( min, Bukiktinggi, Jawi: , formerly nl, Fort de Kock) is the third largest city in West Sumatra, Indonesia, with a population of 111,312 in 2010 and 121,028 in 2020, and an area of 25.24 km2. It is in the Minangkabau Highlands, 90 km by road from the West Sumatran capital city of Padang. The whole area directly borders to the Agam Regency (Bukittinggi was its regency seat until 1998), making it an enclave, and is located at , near the volcanoes Mount Singgalang (inactive) and Mount Marapi (still active).
