Manuel Rojas Ibero-American Narrative Award
The Manuel Rojas Ibero-American Narrative Award ( es, Premio Iberoamericano de Narrativa Manuel Rojas, links=no) is an annual award given in honor of the author of ''Hijo de ladrón'' by the National Council of Culture and the Arts of Chile. It was instituted in 2012 with the sponsorship of the Manuel Rojas Foundation and was delivered for the first time that year, on the centenary of the writer's foot crossing from Argentina, "at which time he began his vast literary career," as pointed out on the occasion by Jorge Guerra, president of the foundation. The winner is chosen by an international jury composed of five literary figures – two Chileans and three foreigners. The prize consists of , a medal, and a diploma, similar to that of the Pablo Neruda Ibero-American Poetry Award. Horacio Castellanos Moya
Horacio Castellanos Moya (born 1957) is a Salvadoran novelist, short story writer, and journalist. Life and work Castellanos Moya was born in 1957 in Tegucigalpa, Honduras to a Honduran mother and a Salvadoran father. His family moved to El Salvador when he was four years old. He lived there until 1979 when he left to attend York University in Toronto. On a visit home, he witnessed a demonstration of unarmed students and workers in which twenty-one people were killed by government snipers. He left El Salvador that March, but did not go back to Canada for school. Instead, he traveled to Costa Rica and Mexico, where he found work as a journalist. He wrote sympathetically about the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front, a political party that formed following the 1932 Salvadoran peasant massacre. Juan Villoro
Juan Villoro (born 24 September 1956, in Mexico City) is a Mexican writer and journalist and the son of philosopher Luis Villoro. He has been well known among intellectual circles in Mexico, Latin America and Spain for years, but his success among a wider readership has grown since receiving the Herralde Prize for his novel ''El testigo''. Biography Juan Villoro received his bachelor's degree in Sociology from the Metropolitan Autonomous University, Iztapalapa campus. Hebe Uhart (2 December 1936 – 11 October 2018) was an Argentine writer. In 2017, she received the Manuel Rojas Ibero-American Narrative Award. Career Of her childhood and relationship with books, Hebe Uhart relates: She studied Philosophy at the University of Buenos Aires (UBA). César Aira
César Aira ( Argentine Spanish: ; born 23 February 1949 in Coronel Pringles, Buenos Aires Province) is an Argentinian writer and translator, and an exponent of contemporary Argentinian literature. Aira has published over a hundred short books of stories, novels and essays. Margo Glantz Shapiro (; born January 28, 1930) is a Mexican writer, essayist, critic and academic. She has been a member of the Academia Mexicana de la Lengua since 1995. She is a recipient of the FIL Award. Biography Margo Glantz's family immigrated to Mexico from Ukraine in the 1920s. Her father, Jacobo Glantz, met her mother, Elizabeth (Lucia) Shapiro in Odessa, where they married. They tried to emigrate to the United States of America, where they had relatives, but were denied entry and had to remain in Mexico. Although they stayed faithful to Jewish traditions, they soon moved in Mexican artistic circles.
