Manuel Ramos Otero
Manuel Ramos Otero (July 20, 1948 – October 7, 1990) was a Puerto Rican literature, Puerto Rican writer. He is widely considered to be the most important coming out, openly gay twentieth-century Puerto Rican writer who wrote in Spanish, and his work was often controversial due to its sexual and political content. Ramos Otero died in San Juan (Puerto Rico), San Juan, Puerto Rico, due to complications from AIDS. Pregones Theatre
The Puerto Rican Traveling Theater is a theater company based at the 47th Street Theater in New York City. It was founded as El Nuevo Círculo Dramatico (The New Drama Circuit) by Míriam Colón and Roberto Rodríguez. It was one of the first Puerto Rican theater companies to be founded and is credited with kickstarting the Hispanic and Puerto Rican theater scene in New York. The first production by the company was ''La Carreta'' (''The Oxcart'') in 1953, written by René Marqués and directed by founder Roberto Rodríguez. Although the success of ''El Nuevo Círculo Dramatico'' was short, the spirit of the company lived on when Colón went on to found the Puerto Rican Traveling Theater Company. Erika Lopez (born 1968) is an American cartoonist, novelist, and performance artist. Lopez has published six books or more and has internationally achieved her performance art. Nemir Matos-Cintrón
Nemir Matos-Cintrón (born 1949) is a Puerto Rican author who resides in Florida. She has published several books of poetry and parts of a novel. She has openly thematized her lesbianism in much of her work. Life Matos-Cintrón was born on November 19, 1949, in Santurce, Puerto Rico. She received her B.A. in Humanities from the University of Puerto Rico and later her Master's of Science from the S. I. Newhouse School of Public Communications at Syracuse University. During the 1980s, Matos-Cintrón taught television production courses at the Universidad del Sagrado Corazón in Puerto Rico. She also worked as television producer for the all news Channel 24. Frances Negrón-Muntaner (born 1966) is a Puerto Rican filmmaker, writer, and scholar. Her work is focused on a comparative exploration of coloniality, primarily in Puerto Rico and the United States, with special attention given to the intersections between race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality and politics. She is an associate professor of English and Comparative Literature and Director of the Center for the Study of Ethnicity and Race at Columbia University in New York City. She has also contributed to the Huffington Post, El Diario/La Prensa, and 80 Grados, and since 2008 has served as a Global Expert for the United Nations Rapid Response Media Mechanism. Luz María "Luzma" Umpierre-Herrera (born in 1947) is a Puerto Rican human rights advocate, New-Humanist educator, poet, and scholar. Reinaldo Arenas (July 16, 1943 – December 7, 1990) was a Cuban poet, novelist, and playwright known as a vocal critic of Fidel Castro, the Cuban Revolution, and the Cuban government. A brothel, bordello, ranch, or whorehouse is a place where people engage in sexual activity with prostitutes. Pimp
Procuring or pandering is the facilitation or provision of a prostitute or other sex worker in the arrangement of a sex act with a customer. A procurer, colloquially called a pimp (if male) or a madam (if female, though the term pimp has still extensively been used for female procurers as well) or a brothel keeper, is an agent for prostitutes who collects part of their earnings.
