Manuel Gómez Pedraza
Manuel Gómez Pedraza y RodrÃguez (22 April 1789 – 14 May 1851) was a Mexican general and president of his country from 1832 to 1833. Early life Manuel Gomez Pedraza was born in Queretaro and was an official in charge of militias during Spanish rule. He was very strict in following discipline and orders. During the war he was initially a royalist, and played a role in the defeat of Morelos, fighting at the head of the Fieles de Potosi Batallion, and he was loyal to the Spanish up until the very end, being viewed as a very reliable by the hierarchy, and being recommended for a promotion to the Spanish Cortes. He was a passionate supporter of the First Mexican Empire, and he was stationed in Mexico City during the empire’s last days. Melchor Múzquiz
Melchor de Eca y M̼zquiz (5 January 1790 Р14 December 1844) was a Mexican soldier and politician. He was named interim president of Mexico during the Plan of Veracruz which had the aim of overthrowing President Anastasio Bustamante. The president stepped down to personally lead his troops against the insurgents, and Muzquiz was designated as his replacement by congress. Muzquiz played an active role in attempting to suppress the revolt, but revolution would succeed and Muzquiz was forced to step down on December, 1832 in favor of the insurgents' choice for president: Manuel Gomez Pedraza. Early life Melchor Muzquiz was born in Santa Rosa, Coahuila in 1790 and began his studies at the college of San Ildefono in Mexico City from which he left to join the insurgents when the Mexican War of Independence broke out in 1810. He fought against the Spanish in Michoacan and Veracruz and was taken prisoner at the Hacienda of Monte Blanco when he had reached the rank of colonel. ...
