Manuel Faißt
Manuel Faißt (born 11 January 1993) is a German nordic combined athlete. Career Germany's Manuel Faißt has relations to other people who are nordic combined athletes. In Faißt's case, his father has been a Nordic Combined athlete himself and worked as a coach at Faißt's home club of Baiersbronn. 4-year-old Manuel skied down the outrun of the 10-metre hill at Bergergrund and at age 5, he had already made his first jumps. Soon, Faißt's ambitious personality paid off, and he started collecting medals and trophies from competitions that he won, even in his younger years. In 2009, Faißt won the European Youth Olympic Festival in Szczyrk and the OPA Games at his home venue in Baiersbronn, as well as making his debut in the World Cup at Lillehammer. He achieved his first World Cup Top Ten result in 2011 at Ramsau am Dachstein with a career-best seventh rank. Furtwangen im Schwarzwald (; Low Alemannic: ''Furtwange im Schwarzwald'') is a small city located in the Black Forest region of southwestern Germany. Together with Villingen-Schwenningen, Furtwangen is part of the district (German: Kreis) of Schwarzwald-Baar. Geography Furtwangen is located in the Southern Black Forest Nature Park in the Southeastern Black Forest, around 25 kilometers west of the district town of Villingen-Schwenningen and around 27 kilometers northeast of Freiburg. Furtwangen is the highest town in Baden-Württemberg. Between 850 m and 1,150 m above sea level, it lies in the upper Bregtal of the Central Black Forest in the headwaters of the Danube. The 42nd FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 24 February to 7 March 2021 in Oberstdorf, Germany. Russia doping ban On 9 December 2019, the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) banned Russia from all international sport for a period of four years, after the Russian government was found to have tampered with laboratory data that it provided to WADA in January 2019 as a condition of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency being reinstated. The 41st FIS Nordic World Ski Championships were held from 20 February to 3 March 2019 in Seefeld in Tirol, Tyrol, Austria. It was the second time Seefeld in Tirol hosted the world championships, the event having been hosted there previously in 1985. Host selection Championships was awarded to Seefeld in Tirol in Tyrol in Austria during the FIS Congress from 1–6 June 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. Finalist applicants were Seefeld in Tirol (Austria), Oberstdorf (Germany), Planica (Slovenia) and Almaty (Kazakhstan). Oberstdorf had already applied for 2013, 2015 and 2017, Planica for 2017. Seefeld submitted its candidacy shortly before the deadline. The Austrian winter sports resort had hosted the Championships in 1985, the German resort of Oberstdorf in 1987 and 2005.
