Manuel Egozcue Cintrón
Manuel Egozcue y Cintrón (1855 in Toa Alta, Puerto Rico – 1906) was a businessman and a prominent politician in Spain and Puerto Rico during the late 18th and early 19th centuries. After completing university, he emigrated to Puerto Rico, then an overseas province of Spain, and quickly became prominent in its business circles. He became an active member of the Partido Incondicional Español (the loyalist Spanish Unconditional Party) and held public offices under the Spanish government, including the vice-presidency of the ''Diputación Provincial'' (Provincial Legislature). In 1896 the government honored him with the Orden del Mérito Naval for services rendered to Spain's navy. After the American occupation, Egozcue Cintrón joined the newly formed Republican Party of Puerto Rico, whose main goal was obtaining statehood status for the island. William Henry Hunt (November 5, 1857 – February 4, 1949) was the governor of Puerto Rico, a United States district judge of the United States District Court for the District of Montana, associate judge of the United States Court of Customs Appeals and a United States circuit judge of the United States Customs Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit and the United States Circuit Courts for the Ninth Circuit. Cayetano Coll Y Toste
Dr. Cayetano Coll y Toste (November 30, 1850 – November 19, 1930), was a Puerto Rican historian and writer, who served as Official Historian of Puerto Rico from 1913 until his death in 1930. He was the founder and editor of the fourteen volumes of the “Historical Bulletin of Puerto Rico.” He was the patriarch of a prominent family of Puerto Rican educators, politicians and writers. Early years Coll y Toste was born in the city of Arecibo, Puerto Rico, where he received his primary and secondary education. In 1863, he entered the Jesuits' Seminary College in San Juan from where he graduated with a bachelor's degree in Philosophy in 1868. In 1872, Coll y Toste went to Barcelona, Spain and enrolled in the "School of Medicine" of the University of Barcelona. From here he graduated as a "Doctor in Medicine and Surgery" in 1872. Salvador Brau y Asencio (January 11, 1842 – November 5, 1912) was a Puerto Rican journalist, poet, dramatist, novelist, historian, and sociologist. He was designated the official historian of Puerto Rico by the first American-appointed governor of the island. Early years Brau was born in Cabo Rojo, Puerto Rico, into a well-to-do family. His father was Bartolomé Brau, a Catalan people, Catalan teacher, and his mother was Luisa Asencio, a native of Venezuela. Brau received his primary and secondary education in private schools.
