Manuel Asur
Manuel Asur (Manuel Asur GONZÁLEZ GARCÍA) ( Güeria Carrocera, San Martín del Rey Aurelio, Asturias, 1947) is a Spanish essayist and poet in Asturian. He's considered to be one of the first modern poets in this language. He has a PhD degree in Philosophy. His book, ''Cancios y poemes pa un riscar'' ('Songs and Poems to a Dawn') meant the beginning in 1977 of the rebirth (Asturian ''surdimientu'') of asturian literature, because he contributed with a poetry more newfangled and risked than anything written before in this language. Most of their works talk about the socio-political facts of the moment. Some of their poems became very popular in Asturias in the 1970s since the group Nuberu used them as lyrics for their songs. He wrote also a narrative book in 1987, ''Hai una llinia trazada'' ('There's a Drawn Line'), with short stories that he say to consider "almost monologues". San Martín Del Rey Aurelio
San Martín del Rey Aurelio ( Asturian: Samartín del Rei Aurelio) is a municipality of the Autonomous Community of the Principality of Asturias in northern Spain. There are three main towns in the municipality: Sotrondio, El Entrego, and Blimea, and many villages, such as Santa Bárbara and La Hueria. It is situated in the central part of Asturias, just below the Sierra de San Mamés, part of the Cantabrian Mountains. The Nalón River, the longest river in Asturias, crosses the municipality. The Redes Natural Park is located nearby. Historically a mining location, nowadays it is in a re-industrial process with the emigration of many young people (about 30% of under 30). New computer based factories are attempting to establish themselves. Nuberu
The Nuberu ( Asturian and Cantabrian), Nubero ( Castilian) or Nubeiro ( Galician) -literally "''The Clouder''"- is a character of Asturian, Cantabrian, Galician and northern Castilian mythology. According to Asturian mythology, the ''Nuberu'' (also known in Western Asturias as Reñubeiru or Xuan Cabritu), is the divinity of clouds and storms. In some stories he is an individual, in other, the Nuberu is a species of dwarf-like beings with the power to control the weather. Sometimes it is represented as a man with a thick beard, who wears goat leathers and a big hat. Their appearance changes from region to region but they are usually elderly, winged, dark and terribly ugly. Academia De La Llingua Asturiana
The Academia de la Llingua Asturiana or Academy of the Asturian Language (ALLA) is an Official Institution of the Government of the Principality of Asturias that promotes and regulates the Asturian language, a language of the Spanish autonomous community of Asturias. Among its principal objectives are investigating and normalizing the Asturian Language, developing a dictionary, promoting its use and education and awarding literary prizes. It has 21 full members, 19 foreign members and 15 honorary members, and its current (as of 2006) president is Ana María Cano González.
