Manual Scan
Manual Scan was an American mod and power pop group from San Diego, active between 1981 and 1991. Manual Scan released numerous CDs, LPs and 7-inch singles, in England, Spain and the US. They toured in the US, England (including a 1986 appearance at the 100 Club in London), and Mexico. The group's song "Nothing Can Be Everything" was included in the 1990 Columbia Pictures release, ''A Girl To Kill For''. Members The founding members of Manual Scan were guitarist / singer Bart Mendoza, guitarist Kevin Ring, bassist David Fleminger and drummer Paul Kaufman, though within a few months of the band's formation Kaufman was replaced by Paul Brewin and singer Yvonne Simon was added on backing vocals and guitar. All except for Fleminger were former students of La Jolla High School . The band's lineup changed frequently during its existence, with Mendoza and Donaker-Ring as the core members. Tom Ward
Tom Ward (born 11 January 1971) is a British film, stage and television actor. Early life Tom Ward was born in Swansea, Wales, the son of poet and academic John Powell Ward, and Sarah Ward OBE, a farmer. Ward was sent to the Dragon School in Oxford and The King's School, Canterbury. He read Philosophy, Politics and Economics at Lincoln College, Oxford. Career Ward is chiefly known for his role as Dr. Harry Cunningham in the long-running forensic drama series ''Silent Witness'', a role he played for 10 years. Its name derives from a 1992 merger between the two major daily newspapers at the time, ''The San Diego Union'' and the ''San Diego Evening Tribune''. Alan Sanderson is a recording engineer, mixer, music producer, studio owner based in Southern California. Sanderson is credited with working on some of the most successful albums of the 1990-2000s while working as an engineer at Cello and Ocean Way Studios in Hollywood, California. Some of the artists Sanderson has recorded include: Fleetwood Mac, Michael Jackson, Elton John, Fiona Apple, B.B. King, Counting Crows, Elvis Costello, Ziggy Marley, Ryan Adams and Weezer. In 1997 he was an engineer on The Rolling Stones album ''Bridges to Babylon''. On February 13, 2011 Sanderson earned a Grammy for his participation in the recording of the album ''Hello Hurricane'' by the musical group Switchfoot. Lyres (band)
Lyres are a Boston-area garage rock band led by Jeff Conolly, founded in 1979 following the breakup of DMZ. Their most popular songs included "Don't Give It Up Now," 'She Pays The Rent' and "Help You Ann". The original lineup of the band featured Conolly, Rick Coraccio (bass), Ricky Carmel (guitar), and Paul Murphy (drums). Former DMZ members Coraccio, Murphy, Peter Greenberg, and Mike Lewis all rejoined Connolly in Lyres at some point from 1979 to the early 2000s. The A-Bones drummer Miriam Linna, (a former drummer for The Cramps) and then A-Bones, Yo La Tengo and former Lyres bass player Mike Lewis filled-in with Lyres for a show in 1986. Stiv Bators of The Dead Boys and Lords of the New Church, and Wally Tax of The Outsiders also recorded with Lyres in the late 1980s. The Gravedigger Five – often shown as Gravedigger V – was an American garage rock revival band, formed in 1984 in San Diego, California, United States. The band was part of the Paisley Underground, a musical movement centered on Los Angeles, California, which referenced 1960s West Coast pop and garage rock.
