Mantaray (album)
''Mantaray'' is the debut solo album by English singer Siouxsie. It was released in September 2007 by W14 Music on Universal Records, four years after the final album of the Creatures, ''Hái!''. After her first solo tour in 2004, Siouxsie wanted to collaborate with other musicians. She met Steve Evans and Charlie Jones, both of them arranged the songs and produced the record. Upon release, ''Mantaray'' was well received by critics, with praise focused on Siouxsie's voice and the different compositional styles. In May 2023, a newly remastered version of ''Mantaray'' will be reissued on CD. Background After the success of her first solo release, the live DVD ''Dreamshow'', which reached the No. 1 position in the UK chart in August 2005, Siouxsie received demos from several composers. ''The Mantaray'' is a show rod built in 1963 by Dean Jeffries. The car won Best Experimental in its debut at the 1964 Pomona car show (at the Winternationals) and the special constructor's award, top non-roadster prize, at the 1964 Oakland Roadster Show. It also appeared on " The Tonight Show" with Steve Allen and in '' Bikini Beach''. Construction details Based on a pre-World War II Maserati racing car, it had a wire-mesh "cage" with the body laid over the bare space frame, with air intakes in the rear quarter panels ahead of the wheels. ''Manta Ray'' (Thai: ''Kraben Rahu'') is a 2018 drama film written and directed by Phuttiphong Aroonpheng. It is Aroonpheng's first feature film, following his graduation from Digital Film Academy. The film had its world premiere at the 75th Venice International Film Festival on 7 September 2018 and received the award for the best movie in Orizzonti/ Horizon Prize selection. Aroonpheng also received the Silver Pyramid at the 40th Cairo International Film Festival. The film stars Aphisit Hama, Wanlop Rungkamjad and Rasmee Wayrana in lead roles.
