Governorates Of Kuwait
Kuwait is divided into 6 governorates (''muhafazah''). The governorates are further subdivided into areas. The governorate is headed by a Governor appointed by a ministerial decree for a period of 4 years which can be renewed upon the proposal of the Prime Minister. History The beginning of the formation of governorates in the State of Kuwait started back in 1962 with the Emiri decree No. 6 which divided the Kuwait into three governorates i.e. Al Asimah Governorate, Ḩawallī Governorate and Al Aḩmadi Governorate. Later, Jahra Governorate, Farwaniya Governorate and Mubarak Al-Kabeer Governorate were formed in 1979, 1988 and 1999 respectively. Areas Of Kuwait
Kuwait is divided into six governorates, and in each there are several areas ( ar, مناطِق). Areas are much less commonly called by other names such as districts or towns. However they are commonly known inside the English-speaking community in Kuwait as and are officially translated to ''areas''. The Arabic word for area, ''Mintaqah منطقة'' can mean both mean ''area'' and ''region''. Areas are further subdivided into blocks, each of which is refereed by to a number. All blocks are divided into ''streets شوارع'' (singular شارع šāriʿ). However, some areas may be further subdivided into جادات ''Jaddāt'' (singular ''جادة Jadda''), which might be translated to ''avenue'' or ''lane''. Kuwait City ( ar, مدينة الكويت) is the capital and largest city of Kuwait. Located at the heart of the country on the south shore of Kuwait Bay on the Persian Gulf, it is the political, cultural and economical centre of the emirate, containing Kuwait's Seif Palace, government offices, and the headquarters of most Kuwaiti corporations and banks. Al-Arabi Sporting Club
Al-Arabi Sporting Club ( ar, النادي العربي الرياضي) is a Kuwaiti sports club club based in Mansuriya, Kuwait City. The most notable section is football team in the Kuwait Premier League. Al-Arabi SC was named ''Al-ʿUrūba'' ( ar, العُروبَة, lit=The Arabism) at the beginning of 1953, and changed to Al-Arabi SC (The Arabian) in 1960. As winners of the Kuwait Emir Cup in 2008, Al-Arabi SC was the first Kuwaiti team to compete in the AFC Cup. Al-Arabi SC has 45 official trophies next to its name (57 domestic and 2 GCC), the most of any Kuwaiti football team.
