Manor House Tube Station
Manor House is a station on the Piccadilly line of the London Underground, on the boundary between Travelcard Zone 2 and Zone 3. It straddles the border between the London Boroughs of Hackney and Haringey, the postal address and three of the entrances being in the former, and one entrance in the latter. Description The station is situated at the junction of Seven Sisters Road and Green Lanes. Named after the former public house that used to be located on the crossroads, it was designed by Charles Holden and opened on 19 September 1932. It is situated between Finsbury Park and Turnpike Lane stations. Like all stations on the Cockfosters extension, Manor House station set new aesthetic standards, not previously seen on London's Underground. The sub-surface areas of the station were tiled in biscuit coloured tiles lined with blue friezes (refurbished in 2005). Wood Green Tube Station
Wood Green is a London Underground station on the Piccadilly line. The station is between Turnpike Lane and Bounds Green stations and is in Travelcard Zone 3. It is located at junction of High Road, Wood Green and Lordship Lane. It serves Wood Green Shopping City and the nearby Haringey Council administrative complex as well as a densely populated residential area. It is also the closest tube station to Alexandra Palace. London Buses route 253 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Hackney Central and Euston bus station, it is operated by Arriva London. History Route 253 commenced operating on 1 February 1961 between Aldgate bus station and Tottenham Court Road via Bethnal Green, Hackney Central, Clapton Pond, Stamford Hill, Manor House, Finsbury Park and Camden Town as a replacement for trolleybus route 653 with AEC Routemasters. By 1994 the route, now operated by Leaside Buses, was one of the busiest in London, with a peak vehicle requirement of 50 buses operating at a frequency of one bus every two minutes. London Buses Route 141
London Buses route 141 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Palmers Green and London Bridge bus station, it is operated by Arriva London. History The route was retained by Arriva London with a contract awarded in May 2005. Route 141 was the first route to be served by hybrid electric double-decker buses, with the first one entering service in March 2007. A bus operating on route 141 was involved in an accident near Monument station on 24 February 2010. Eleven people including the driver were injured when the bus crashed into a set of railings and narrowly avoided falling down the steps into the station. Upon being re-tendered, route 141 was retained by Arriva London with a new contract commencing on 12 January 2013. London Buses route 29 is a Transport for London contracted bus route in London, England. Running between Wood Green and Trafalgar Square, it is operated by Arriva London. History Today's route 29 traces its history back to a daily route between Victoria and Wood Green via Whitehall, Charing Cross Road, Camden Town, Seven Sisters Road and Green Lanes, Harringay, which began operation on 20 November 1911. Victoria Line
The Victoria line is a London Underground line that runs between in south London and in the north-east, via the West End. It is printed in light blue on the Tube map and is one of the only two lines on the network to run completely underground, the other being the Waterloo & City line. The line was constructed in the 1960s and was the first entirely new Underground line in London for 50 years. It was designed to reduce congestion on other lines, particularly the Piccadilly line and the branch of the Northern line. The first section, from Walthamstow Central to , opened in September 1968 and an extension to followed in December.
