Manny Hazard
Manny Hazard (born 1969) is a former professional American football wide receiver who played collegiately at the University of Houston and in the CFL for the Toronto Argonauts. Hazard, who played with Heisman Trophy winner quarterback Andre Ware at Houston in 1989, held the NCAA football record for most receptions in a season with 142 until December 30, 2009, when Bowling Green's Freddie Barnes broke the record in the first quarter of the 2009 Humanitarian Bowl. Hazard went undrafted in the 1991 NFL Draft. American Football
American football (referred to simply as football in the United States and Canada), also known as gridiron, is a team sport played by two teams of eleven players on a rectangular field with goalposts at each end. The offense, the team with possession of the oval-shaped football, attempts to advance down the field by running with the ball or passing it, while the defense, the team without possession of the ball, aims to stop the offense's advance and to take control of the ball for themselves. The offense must advance at least ten yards in four downs or plays; if they fail, they turn over the football to the defense, but if they succeed, they are given a new set of four downs to continue the drive. Points are scored primarily by advancing the ball into the opposing team's end zone for a touchdown or kicking the ball through the opponent's goalposts for a field goal. 1991 NFL Draft
The 1991 NFL draft was the procedure by which National Football League teams selected amateur college football players. It is officially known as the NFL Annual Player Selection Meeting. The draft was held April 21–22, 1991, at the Marriott Marquis in New York City, New York. No teams elected to claim any players in the supplemental draft that year. The first six selections of the draft were defensive players, the most in draft history. It began with the Dallas Cowboys using the first overall pick to select Russell Maryland. 2009 Humanitarian Bowl
The 2009 Humanitarian Bowl was the thirteenth edition of the college football bowl game, and was played at Bronco Stadium in Boise, Idaho, on the campus of Boise State University. The game started at 2:30 pm MST on Wednesday, December 30, 2009, and was telecasted on ESPN. Idaho defeated Bowling Green 43–42. As of this game, the Humanitarian Bowl was the longest continuously running cold weather bowl. The 2009 game was Idaho's first bowl game in more than a decade, when they defeated Southern Mississippi in the 1998 Humanitarian Bowl. Bowling Green, in its debut at the Humanitarian Bowl, filled a spot usually reserved for the Mountain West Conference; however, the MWC champion TCU was selected to play in the Fiesta Bowl and the conference did not have enough bowl-eligible teams to fill out its usual bowl commitments. Freddie Barnes
Freddie Lee Barnes (born December 6, 1986) is a former American football wide receiver. He was signed by the Chicago Bears of the National Football League (NFL) as an undrafted free agent in 2010. He played college football at Bowling Green. During 2009, including the Humanitarian Bowl, Barnes accumulated an NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision record 155 receptions for 1,770 yards, 19 receiving touchdowns, as well as two rushing touchdowns. The 155-reception total not only surpassed the Division I record, but also an NCAA All-division record. He also broke Randy Moss' single-season Mid-American Conference yardage record.
