''Mannippu'' () is a 1969 Indian Tamil-language romantic thriller film, directed by M. Krishnan Nair and written by Thuraiyur K. Moorthi. The film stars Jaishankar, A. V. M. Rajan, Vennira Aadai Nirmala and Lakshmi, with Nagesh, R. S. Manohar, C. K. Saraswathi and Major Sundarrajan in supporting roles. It is a remake of the Malayalam film ''Padunna Puzha'' (1968). The film was released on 28 November 1969 and was successful at the box office. Plot Advocate Kumar and his sister Bhama lose their mother and are brought up by their maternal aunt, who loves them as her own. Radha gives Bhama daily music lessons. Radha is in love with Gopi, an artist. But her mother is against their relationship due to a family feud. Kumar invites Gopi to his house. Vennira Aadai Nirmala (born as A. B. Shanthi in Kumbakonam) is an Indian actress who has appeared in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films. She was a prominent lead actress from 1960s and 70s. Jaishankar (12 July 1938 – 3 June 2000) was an Indian actor known for his work in Tamil cinema. He was a very popular lead actor in the 1960s and 70s. He was credited onscreen with title of ''Makkal Kalaingnar'' (people's artiste) or ''Makkal Thamizhan'' (people's Tamil) in most films starring him. He was also referred to as ''Thennakathu James Bond'' (South Indian James Bond) because of his roles in films such as ''Vallavan Oruvan'' and ''CID Shankar''. Mahalakshmi (born 13 December 1952), known professionally as Lakshmi, is an Indian actress known for her works primarily in the southern film industry (distributing her acting career in almost each Dravidian language equally), along with some Hindi films.
