Emilija Manninen (born 22 January 1981) is an Estonian female hurdler. She has represented Estonia at the Deaflympics in 1997, 2001, 2005, 2009 and 2013. Emilija won her first Deaflympic medal, which was a bronze medal at the 2001 Summer Deaflympics in the women's 400m hurdles. She also claimed a silver medal in the 400m hurdles during the 2009 Summer Deaflympics, which was her second medal in the women's 400m hurdles. Emilija Manninen set a new Deaflympic record for the women's 400m hurdles with a record time of 1:01.62 during the 2013 Summer Deaflympics after earning a gold medal in the particular event. Hannu Kalevi Manninen (born 17 April 1978 in Rovaniemi) is a Finnish nordic combined athlete. Debuting at the 1994 Winter Olympics in Lillehammer at the age of 15, he took his first medal three years later at the age of 18 when he won silver in the 4 × 5 km team event at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships. At the 2002 Winter Olympics, he won a gold medal in the 4 × 5 km team event at the age of 23. He has five other Nordic skiing World Championships medals, earning three golds (4 × 5 km team: 1999, 2007 and 7.5 km sprint: 2007) and two bronzes (4 × 5 km team: 2001, 2003). Ilmari Manninen
Ilmari Justus Andreus Manninen (2 September 1894 – 14 June 1935) was a Finnish professor, writer and ethnographer. He led the Estonian National Museum when it opened at Raadi Manor. Life Manninen was born in Viipuri in 1894. in 1919 Tartu University was allowed to become a university that taught all its lessons in the Estonian language. This was a new venture and the ambition was limited by the number of Estonian speaking lecturers. To fill the gap a number of foreigners were invited, including Manninen, to assist. In 1922 the university obtained the rights to Raadi Manor which had been the ancestral home of the art collecting noble family of the Lipharts. The relatively new Estonian National Museum was to establish itself there and Manninen was successful in being appointed the director. Erkki Mauno Gustaf Manninen (June 26, 1915 – September 14, 1969) was a Finnish poet, painter and theatre director. He was the son of poet Otto Manninen and writer Anni Swan. Manninen is best known as the founder of Intimiteatteri, which was one of the leading theatres in Helsinki from 1949 to 1987. In 1965 Manninen married Lina Heydrich who was the widow of assassinated SS-Obergruppenführer Reinhard Heydrich. They met while Heydrich was on a holiday trip to Finland and got married for the purpose of Heydrich changing her last name. Mikko Manninen (born 25 May 1985) is a Finnish footballer who plays as a midfielder for Ykkönen club JJK. Manninen played well in pre-season for TPS but since the Veikkausliiga started, he's been struggling to find his old form, although he has been able to hold on his starting place for now. Otto Manninen (13 August 1872, Kangasniemi – 6 April 1950, Helsinki) was a Finnish writer, poet, and a celebrated translator of world classics into Finnish language. Along with Eino Leino in the early 20th century, he is considered as a pioneer of Finnish poetry. Manninen translated the works of Homer, Sophocles, Euripides, Heine, Ibsen, Petőfi and Runeberg into Finnish. Life Manninen was born in Kangasniemi as a farmer's son. He was one of the ten children of Topias and Matilda Manninen. After passing the matriculation examination in 1892, he was admitted into the University of Helsinki, receiving his Bachelor of Arts degree in 1897. From 1898-99 he was an assistant editor of the periodical ''Valvoja''. His early translations of Heinrich Heine were published in ''Koitar'', the student magazine of the university, in 1897. Pirjo Muranen (née Manninen, born 8 March 1981 in Rovaniemi) is a retired Finnish cross-country skier. She won a bronze medal in the 4 × 5 km relay at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver. Muranen won five medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with three golds (Individual sprint: 2001, 4 × 5 km relay: 2007, 2009), a silver (Team sprint: 2005, with Riitta-Liisa Lassila), and a bronze (Individual sprint: 2009). She married on 30 June 2007; previously known by her maiden name of Pirjo Manninen. Muranen also has sixteen additional victories up to 15 km from 2000 to 2002. She is the younger sister of Nordic combined skier Hannu.
