Manlot Island
Manlot (historically Labno Islet) is an island-barangay in northeastern Iloilo, Philippines. It is one of fourteen islands politically administered by the municipality of Carles. Location and geography Manlot is a small wooded island northeast of the Panay Island coast in the Visayan Sea. It is southeast of Himamylan Island and directly west of Calagnaan Island. The body of water between Calagnaan and nearby Binuluangan Island is known as the Nilidlaran Pass, which is divided into two narrow channels by Manlot. Although a part of Carles, Manlot is a quick 15 minute pumpboat ride from Estancia. While the island belongs to the Manlot barangay, which is politically administered by Carles, Manlot island is privately owned by the Matta family. A pump boat (usually variation as ''pambot'' in local languages) is an outrigger canoe (') powered by a small gasoline or diesel engine. Typhoon Haiyan (2013)
Typhoon Haiyan, known in the Philippines as Super Typhoon Yolanda, was one of the most powerful tropical cyclones ever recorded. On making landfall, Haiyan devastated portions of Southeast Asia, particularly the Philippines. It is one of the deadliest Philippine typhoons on record, killing at least 6,300 people in that country alone. In terms of JTWC-estimated 1-minute sustained winds, Haiyan is tied with Meranti in 2016 for being the second strongest landfalling tropical cyclone on record, only behind Goni of 2020. Estancia (), officially the Municipality of Estancia ( hil, Banwa sang Estancia, tgl, Bayan ng Estancia), is a 2nd class municipality in the province of Iloilo, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 53,200 people. Estancia is located in the northern part of the province and is from the provincial capital, Iloilo City, and from Roxas City. Binuluangan Island
Binuluangan (historically Balin) is an inhabited island-barangay in northeastern Iloilo, Philippines. It is one of fourteen islands politically administered by the municipality of Carles. In 2010 it had a population of 1,682. There is an elementary school on the island. Location and geography Binuluangan is a wooded island northeast of the Panay Island coast in the Visayan Sea. It is west of Calagnaan Island and separated from that island by the Nilidlaran Pass. The Visayan Sea is a sea in the Philippines surrounded by the islands of the Visayas. It is bounded by the islands Masbate to the north, Panay to the west, Leyte to the east, and Cebu and Negros to the south. Calagnaan Island
Calagnaan (also Calagna-an) is an island in northeastern Iloilo, Philippines. It is one of fourteen islands politically administered by the municipality of Carles. The population of the island is 5,017 as of 2020 census. Location and geography Calagnaan is a wooded island northeast of the Panay Island coast in the Visayan Sea.
