Provincial Trunk Highway 20 (PTH 20) is a provincial highway in the Canadian province of Manitoba. It runs from PTH 5 and PR 582 just south of Ochre River to PTH 10 in the village of Cowan. The highway provides an eastern alternative access option to Dauphin along with PTH 20A. The speed limit is 90 km/h (55 mph). PTH 20 is part of the Northern Woods and Water Route. Route description PTH 20 begins by traveling for eight kilometres north through Ochre River to the southwestern edge of Dauphin Lake before turning west toward Dauphin. It then turns north at the Dauphin city limits (PTH 20A actually enters Dauphin) to provide access to the western shores of Dauphin Lake and Lake Winnipegosis. Northern Woods And Water Route
The Northern Woods and Water Route is a route through northern British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba in Western Canada. As early as the 1950s, community groups came together to establish a northern travel route; this was proposed as the Northern Yellowhead Transportation Route. The Northern Woods and Water Route Association was established in 1974, and encouraged promotion of the route with the promise of an increase in tourist travel. The route was designated in 1974 and is well signed throughout its component highways. Lake Manitoba Railway and Canal Company (LMR) was a historic rail line in Manitoba, Canada, between Gladstone in the south and Winnipegosis to its north. History Proposal In 1889, the Lake Manitoba Railway and Canal Company (LMR) received a federal charter to build a railway branch line from Portage La Prairie north to the southern boundary of Lake Manitoba, to link with existing lake and river steamers, and to build navigable canals to connect Lake Manitoba, Lake Winnipegosis and the North Saskatchewan River. Since railways were better suited than watercraft in meeting the overall transportation needs within the province, the charter's scope changed within a year to a line from Portage La Prairie to Lake Winnipegosis, at or near Meadow Portage. Ethelbert is an unincorporated urban community in the Municipality of Ethelbert, Manitoba, Canada. Originally incorporated as a village in 1950, the community was re-classified as an unincorporated urban community on 1 January 2015, following the municipal amalgamations in Manitoba. Located near Duck Mountain Provincial Park on PTH 10, the community is northwest of Winnipeg and north of Dauphin, Manitoba. The primary industries of Ethelbert are agriculture, logging and tourism. Provincial Trunk Highway 10 (PTH 10) is a provincial primary highway located in the Canadian province of Manitoba. PTH 10 begins at the International Peace Garden along the Canada–United States border near Boissevain. The highway runs north through Brandon, Dauphin, Swan River, and The Pas to the Saskatchewan boundary at Flin Flon. The speed limit is 100 km/h. PTH 10 is designated as the John Bracken Highway between the International Peace Garden and Riding Mountain National Park, and the Northern Woods and Water Route between Dauphin and The Pas. Ashville is an unincorporated community in the Rural Municipality of Gilbert Plains, Manitoba, Canada. It is located along Highway 10 and the CPR tracks, north-west of the City of Dauphin. It lies at an elevation of , south of the Valley River and north of the Riding Mountain National Park. The community was named after Isaac Ash, a person of Irish descent who settled in the area. Parkland is an informal geographic region of the Canadian province of Manitoba, located between Lakes Manitoba and Winnipegosis on the east and the Manitoba– Saskatchewan border on the west. The largest population centre is the city of Dauphin, and the second largest is the town of Swan River. Riding Mountain National Park, Duck Mountain Provincial Park, and Asessippi Provincial Park are also located in the region, as well as Manitoba's highest point, Baldy Mountain.
