Mangalore City North Assembly constituency (Previously Surathkal) is one of the Karnataka Legislative Assemblies or Vidhan Sabha constituencies in Karnataka. Mangalore City-North is part of Dakshina Kannada Lok Sabha constituency along with seven other Vidhan Sabha segments, namely: 201. Moodabidri, 203. Mangalore City South, 204. Mangalore, 205. Bantwal, 206. Puttur and 207. Sullia. History During the 2007 delimitation exercise conducted by Election Commission of India several villages in Moodbidri constituency were included in Surathkal constituency and renamed as Mangalore City North constituency. Until 2008 C.E. Mangalore City -North legislative assembly constituency was known as Surathkal assembly constituency. 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2018 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 12 May 2018 in 222 constituencies to the Karnataka Legislative Assembly. The election was postponed in Jayanagar and Rajarajeshwari Nagar, following the death of the MLA B. N. Vijaya Kumar and a voter fraud scandal respectively till 28 May. The election saw a voter turnout of 72.13 per cent, the highest in Karnataka since 1952 assembly polls. The counting of votes took place on 15 May 2018. Mohiuddin Bava
Mohiuddin Bava is an Indian politician from the state of Karnataka. He represented the Mangalore City North seat as a member of the Indian National Congress party in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly from 2013 to 2018. Political career Bava was named by the Indian National Congress party as the party candidate of the Mangalore City North seat for the 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election. His Muslim supporters claimed that if he was not given a ticket, then Muslims might vote for other parties. He had previously unsuccessfully contested the seat in the 2008 Assembly election. He won the seat by defeating his nearest rival J. Krishna Palemar of the Bharatiya Janata Party by 5,573 votes. 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 2013 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election was held on 5 May 2013 to elect members from 223 constituencies in the Indian state of Karnataka. Five major political parties contested the election: Indian National Congress (INC), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Janata Dal (Secular) (JD(S)), B. S. Yeddyurappa's Karnataka Janata Paksha (KJP) and B. Sriramulu's Badavara Shramikara Raitara Congress (BSRCP). Though Karnataka has 224 assembly constituencies, elections were held only for 223 seats. The 2008 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place in three phases on 10, 16 and 22 May 2008 in all the 224 assembly constituencies in Karnataka, India. 1999 Karnataka Legislative Assembly Election
The 1999 Karnataka Legislative Assembly election took place in October 1999 in 224 constituencies in Karnataka, India.
