Mangalam Publications (India) Private Limited, is an Indian publishing company in Kottayam, Kerala, India. It publishes online daily newspaper and weekly magazines such as ''Mangalam Weekly'', '' Kanyaka'' and ''Cinema Mangalam'' in Malayalam. They also publish some magazines in Kannada language. Printed from Kottayam, Kochi, Kozhikode, Thiruvananthapuram, Idukki, Kannur and Thrissur, ''Mangalam'' is the sixth most circulated Malayalam daily. The company was founded by M. C. Varghese in 1969 as a monthly journal, with a circulation of 250 copies. Later it became a weekly magazine. Thrissur
Thrissur (), formerly Trichur, also known by its historical name Thrissivaperur, is a city and the headquarters of the Thrissur district in Kerala, India. It is the third largest urban agglomeration in Kerala after Kochi and Kozhikode, and the 21st largest in India. Dinkan
Dinkan (Malayalam: ഡിങ്കൻ) is a fictional anthropomorphic superhero mouse who appears in an eponymous Malayalam comic story series in children's magazine ''Balamangalam''. Some modern day rationalists of Kerala use Dinkan to mock organized religion and religious intolerance. History Dinkan (ഡിങ്കൻ) was created by story-writer N. Somasekharan and artist Baby in 1983. Dinkan was one of the earliest superhero characters created in India and it quickly became popular among children. Like Terrytoons created Mighty Mouse and several other superhero characters, Dinkan borrowed a few traits from the iconic DC Comics character Superman. He also had characteristics of Iron Man. ''Balamangalam'' ( ml, ബാലമംഗളം) was a Malayalam comic magazine published between 1980 and 2012. It was also published in Kannada with the title ''Balamangala''. History and profile ''Balamangalam'' was first published in 1980. The publisher was Mangalam Publications (India) Private Limited. The fortnightly magazine featured, along with the comic strips, children's stories, rhymes and puzzles. Its target audience was children. The headquarters of the fortnightly was in Kottayam. In October 2012, Mangalam Publications, the owners of ''Balamangalam'' announced that they would stop publication due to poor sales. The news created an outcry on social media websites and prompted the publishers to clarify that "the closure is just temporary and ''Balamangalam'' may return soon."
