Manfred ("Manni") Germar (; born 10 March 1935 in Cologne) is a West German athlete who mainly competed in sprint events. Manfred Steinbach
Manfred Steinbach (born 18 August 1933) is a German former sprinter, long jumper, professor of sport medicine and government official. He competed at the 1956 Summer Olympics in the 100 m, but failed to reach the final. In 1960 he finished in fourth place in the long jump, setting his personal best at 8.00 m. Shortly before the Olympics, in July 1960 he jumped 8.14 m, 1 cm above the 1935 record by Jesse Owens, but this jump was discounted because of lacking wind measurement. He set another, officially recognized world record in August 1958, by running the 4×100 m relay in 39.5 seconds together with Martin Lauer, Heinz Fütterer and Manfred Germar. Steinbach was born and raised in East Germany, but in April 1958 fled to West Germany, following his parents who did so in 1953. After that his coach was accused of complicity and imprisoned. Hans Günter Winkler
Hans Günter Winkler (; 24 July 1926 – 9 July 2018) was a German show jumper. He is the only show jumper to have won five Olympic gold medals and a total of seven Olympic medals, and to compete and win medals in six different Olympic Games. In the 1950s and 1960s Winkler was one of Germany's most popular athletes. Career Winkler was born in Barmen, today part of Wuppertal, North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, the son of a riding teacher. His father, Paul Winkler, died as a soldier during the last week of World War II. The boy was drafted as a ''Flakhelfer'' and was a prisoner of war for a short time. The house of his mother in Frankfurt was destroyed by bombing. He made money, to support his mother and himself, as a groom in the stable of the Landgravine of Hesse in Kronberg im Taunus. Peter Radford
Peter Frank Radford (born 20 September 1939) is a former British athlete, who competed at 100 and 200 metres (and 100 and 220 yards), broke world records, and won Olympic medals, despite having been seriously ill as a child due to a hole in his kidney. Career Running Radford took up competitive running at the age of 12, soon joining Birchfield Harriers, where he was coached by Bill Marlow, and won the English Schools intermediate 100 yard title in 1955 and seniors 100 yards in 1957. He attended Tettenhall College. At the age of 18 at the British Empire and Commonwealth Games in Cardiff in July 1958, he came fourth at 100 yards, was a semi-finalist in the 220 yards, and won a sprint relay gold medal with the England 4×110 yards relay team. In August of that year he competed in the European Championships where he won a Bronze medal in the 100 metres and a Silver medal as part of the British 4×100 metres relay team. Livio Berruti (born 19 May 1939) is an Italian former athletics (sport), athlete who was the winner of the 200-meter dash in the 1960 Summer Olympics. He won five medals, at individual level, and three medals with the Italy national relays team at the international athletics championships, national relay team at the International athletics championships and games, International athletics competitions. Biography Berruti was born in Turin where he attended Liceo classico Cavour, Liceo Classico "Cavour". After high school, while pursuing a degree in chemistry, he competed in the 1960 Rome Olympics. In the semi-finals of the 200 m, spurred by the Home advantage, home crowd, he unexpectedly ran in 20.5 seconds, equalling the then world record for that distance.
