Gujarat Legislative Assembly or Gujarat Vidhan Sabha is the unicameral legislature of the Indian state of Gujarat, in the state capital Gandhinagar. Presently, 182 members of the Legislative Assembly are directly elected from single-member constituencies (seats). It has a term of 5 years unless it is dissolved sooner. 13 constituencies are reserved for scheduled castes and 27 constituencies for scheduled tribes. From its majority party group or by way of a grand coalition cabinet of its prominent members,the state's Executive namely the Government of Gujarat is formed. 1985 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
The 7th Gujarat Legislative Assembly election was held in 1985. The incumbent Indian National Congress (INC) obtained majority with an increase in the vote share and number of seats which was a record in terms of number of seats. INC won 149 seats out of total 182 seats. Janata Party (JP) won only 14 seats, showcasing dominance of INC at that time. Shaktisinh Harishchandrasinhji Gohil (born 4 April 1960) is an Indian politician. He is a Member of Parliament and a member of the Indian National Congress. He is party in-charge for state affairs of Delhi and national spokesperson of All India Congress Committee. Tarachand Chheda
Tarachand Jagshibhai Chheda (14 July 1951 - 23 April 2022) was an Indian politician and the member of Bharatiya Janata Party. He was a member of Gujarat Legislative Assembly representing Mandvi from December 2012 to December 2017. Chheda was also the Minister of State for Cottage Industries, Salt Industries and Cow Protection from 22 May 2014 to August 2016. 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
The 2012 Gujarat Legislative Assembly elections were held in the Indian state of Gujarat in December 2012 for all 182 members of the Gujarat Legislative Assembly. Incumbent Chief Minister Narendra Modi of Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP), in power since 2002, was running for his fourth term. The leader of the opposition was Shaktisinh Gohil of the Indian National Congress (INC). Elections were held in two phases, the first on 13 December and the second on 17 December 2012. 2007 Gujarat Legislative Assembly Election
Gujarat's twelfth legislative election was held in 2007. In this election, the BJP led by Narendra Modi won 117 seats out of 182 (ten seats fewer than in 2002).
