''Mandaturtukhutsesi'' ( ka, მანდატურთუხუცესი) was the Chief overseer of the court, in charge of the palace guard and matters of protocol. The "''Mandaturtukhutsesi''" was aided by an " Amirejibi" and a "Mandatur" and as a symbol of his office, he carried an "Arghani" (sceptre) presented by the monarch. A royal court, often called simply a court when the royal context is clear, is an extended royal household in a monarchy, including all those who regularly attend on a monarch, or another central figure. Amirejibi (title)
Amirejibi ( ka, ამირეჯიბი) is a Georgian family, formerly a prominent noble house, which branched off the House of Palavandishvili and rose in prominence in the late 14th century. The family name comes from a Georgian courtier title of ''amirejibi'' (derived from Arabic: ''amir'', أمير + ''hajib'', الحاجب) that was hereditary in one of the Palavandishvili lines and roughly corresponded to the office of Lord Great Chamberlain. History The Amirejibi were in the immediate circles of the ruling Bagrationi dynasty. For example, King Constantine I of Georgia ( r. 1405-1412) married Natia, daughter of Kutsna Amirejibi, sometime ambassador to Constantinople. A sceptre is a staff or wand held in the hand by a ruling monarch as an item of royal or imperial insignia. Figuratively, it means royal or imperial authority or sovereignty. Antiquity Ancient Egypt and Mesopotamia The ''Was'' and other types of staves were signs of authority in Ancient Egypt. For this reason they are often described as "sceptres", even if they are full-length staffs. One of the earliest royal sceptres was discovered in the 2nd Dynasty tomb of Khasekhemwy in Abydos. Kings were also known to carry a staff, and Pharaoh Anedjib is shown on stone vessels carrying a so-called ''mks''-staff.
