Mana Watanabe
is a Japanese women's professional shogi player ranked 3-dan. She is a former title holder. She is also the first women's professional to come out of the Ladies Professional Shogi-players' Association of Japan (LSPA) and subsequently be recognized as such by the Japan Shogi Association. Women's shogi professional Watanabe's first appearance in a women's professional major title match came in MayJune 2018 when she challenged Kana Satomi for 29th title, and she won the match 3 games to 1. The two met again the following year in the 30th Women's Ōi title match (MayJune 2019); Watanabe was, however, unable to successfully defend her title, losing 3 games to 1. Obihiro, Hokkaido
is a city in Tokachi Subprefecture, Hokkaido, Japan. Obihiro is the only designated city in the Tokachi area. As of February 29, 2020, the city has an estimated population of 165,851. The Annual Shogi Awards (将棋大賞 ''shōgi taishō'') are a number of prizes awarded yearly by the Japan Shogi Association to professional and amateur shogi players who have achieved particular success. is a Japanese women's professional shogi player ranked 4-dan. She is the current holder of the and titles as well as a former holder of the and titles. Early life and education Nishiyama was born on June 27, 1995 in Ōsakasayama, Osaka. She first was exposed to shogi as a three-year-old by watching her father and older sister play but really learned how to play the game as a five-year-old first-grade elementary school student. She soon started attending a neighborhood shogi school three times a week and playing practice games on the Internet. In 2009, she won the girls' division of the 30th as a junior high school second-grade student and thereafter was accepted into the Japan Shogi Association's training group in Osaka. The ranking system is used by many Japanese, Okinawan, Korean, and other martial art organizations to indicate the level of a person's ability within a given system.
