Maumoon Abdul Gayoom
Maumoon Abdul Gayoom (; dv, މައުމޫން ޢަބްދުލް ޤައްޔޫމް; born 29 December 1937) is a Maldivian politician and an Islamic scholar who served as the President of Maldives from 1978 to 2008. After serving as Minister of Transport, he was nominated as President by the Majlis (Parliament) of the Maldives and succeeded Ibrahim Nasir in 1978. He was defeated in the October 2008 presidential election. In opposition, he continued to serve as leader of the Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party until January 2010, when he retired from active politics. However, in September 2011, he returned to Maldivian politics as the leader of the newly formed Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM), whose candidate Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom, Maumoon's half-brother, was victorious in the 2013 presidential elections. Rania Ali Musa Mamoun (Arabic:رانيا مأمون) is a Sudanese fiction writer and journalist, known for her novels, poems and short stories. She was born in the city of Wad Medani in east-central Sudan and was educated at the University of Gezira. Career and literary achievements As a journalist, she has been active in both print media and television. In particular, she has edited the culture page of the journal ''al-Thaqafi'', has written a column for the newspaper ''al-Adwaa'' and presented a cultural programme on Gezira (state), Gezira State TV. Mohammad Mamun Miah ( bn, মোহাম্মদ মামূন মিঞা; born 11 September 1987) is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who plays as a defender for Bangladesh Premier League club Abahani Limited Dhaka and the Bangladesh national team. Mamunul Islam Mamun() (born 12 December 1988) is a Bangladeshi professional footballer who last played as a midfielder for Bangladesh Premier League side Fortis FC and also played for the Bangladesh national football team during 2009-2020. He has won five league titles with three clubs. Mamunul started his career at Brothers Union as a central midfielder. Lieutenant General Mohammed Saad Eddin Mamoun, usually known in English as Saad Mamoun (14 May 1922 – 28 October 2000), was an Egyptian war hero and was the commander of the Egyptian Second Army during the Yom Kippur War. He was commissioned in an infantry regiment in 1943 after graduating from the Egyptian Military Academy. He was wounded in action during the 1956 war as the commander of an infantry anti-Tank battalion. Mohammed esh Sheikh el Mamun also spelled Muhammad al-Shaykh al-Ma'mun, (b. 1566 – d. 1613) among other transliterations; also known as Abu Abdallah Mohammed III, ar, أبو العبدالله محمد سعدي الثالث) was a member of the Saadian dynasty who ruled parts of Morocco during the succession conflicts within the dynasty between 1603 and 1627. He was the son of Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur by one of his harem slave concubines named Elkheizourân (some cite her name as Eldjauher). He was the full-brother of Abu Faris Abdallah and the half-brother of Zidan Abu Maali.
