Mammoth Kamikaze
The Mammoth Kamikaze or Kamikaze Downhill is one of the oldest and fastest downhill cycling races. However, while average downhill races these days runs to 35mph, Mammoth racers were clocking 55-65mph on mostly rigid or semi-rigid bikes with flat handlebars. Downhill Cycling
Downhill mountain biking (DH) is a style of mountain biking practiced on steep, rough terrain that often features Glossary of cycling#gap jump, jumps, Glossary of cycling#drop, drops, Glossary of cycling#rock garden, rock gardens and other obstacles. Mountain Bike Hall Of Fame
The Mountain Bike Hall of Fame (MBHOF) was founded in 1988 to chronicle the history of mountain biking. Formerly located in Crested Butte, Colorado, it relocated to Fairfax, California in 2014 and became part of the Marin Museum of Bicycling. Since the creation of this sport in the 1970s, mountain biking has grown to be immensely popular worldwide and the MBHOF works to document individuals and events which have significantly contributed to mountain biking history. The museum houses items of memorabilia, vintage bikes and components, classic photos, press clippings, and highlights from historic races and events. As of 2016, the MBHOF has inducted more than 140 individuals and groups who have made major contributions to mountain biking. John Tomac
John Tomac (born November 3, 1967 in Owosso, Michigan) is an American former professional cyclist who competed from 1985 to 2005. He was a versatile rider who competed in multiple disciplines including; BMX racing, cross-country, road racing, trials riding and downhill racing. Tomac became a mountain bike racing icon in the late 1980s as the sport began to develop beyond its formative years. At the time of his retirement in 2005, he had won more mountain bike races than anyone in the sport. In 1991 he was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame and, in 2004 he was inducted into the United States Bicycling Hall of Fame. Myles Rockwell
Myles Rockwell (born August 19, 1972) is an American former professional downhill mountain biker and winner of the 2000 UCI Downhill World Championships. He was inducted into the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame in 2019 and into the U.S. Bicycling Hall of Fame in 2021. In 2004 Rockwell was arrested for growing Marijuana, he was released on $10,000 bail. Cindy Whitehead (born June 15, 1962) is an American professional skateboarder and activist. A pioneer of vertical skateboarding, she was inducted into the Skateboarding Hall of Fame in 2016. She is married to photographer Ian R. Logan. Skateboarding career Whitehead began freestyle skateboarding at Hermosa Beach Pier, California, alongside notable skateboarders such as Steve Rocco. After the opening of Skateboard World Skatepark in Torrance, California she began skating halfpipe. In early 1978 she competed at the Hang Ten Olympics at Magic Mountain, in California representing Skateboard World Skatepark and performing a freestyle skateboard routine to The Steve Miller Band's song, "Swingtown".
