Claudio Mamerto Cuenca
Claudio Mamerto Cuenca (30 October 1812 – 3 February 1852) was an Argentine physician and poet. The Spanish mercenary José Pons Ojeda (who called himself "León de Palleja"), who belonged to the Grand Army of General Justo José de Urquiza who fought Rosas in 1852, killed him to saber blows because Cuenca wanted to protect the wounded in his field hospital, immediately after the battle of Caseros. Biography Claudio Mamerto Cuenca was born in Buenos Aires, the son of Justo Casimiro Cuenca and Lucía Calvo. Mamerto Esquiú Medina (11 May 1826 – 10 January 1883) - born Mamerto de la Ascensión Esquiú - was an Argentine Roman Catholic professed member from the Order of Friars Minor and the Bishop of Córdoba from 1880 until his death. Esquiú's cause for sainthood commenced under Pope Paul VI on 13 April 1978 and he became titled as a Servant of God while the confirmation of his heroic virtue allowed for Pope Benedict XVI to name him as Venerable on 16 December 2006. He was beatified on 4 September 2021. Life Mamerto de la Ascensión Esquiú was born on 11 May 1826 in Piedra Blanca to Santiago Esquiú and María de las Nieves Medina. General Mamerto Natividad y Alejandrino (December 3, 1871 – November 9, 1897) was a ''haciendero'' and a Filipino military leader who led numerous successful battles during the Philippine Revolution against the Spaniards. He is credited with establishing army headquarters at Biak Na Bato, which today is a national park because of its historical significance. Together with Jose Clemente Zulueta, he wrote the proclamation entitled “To The Brave Sons of the Philippines”, which called for the expulsion of the friars from the Philippines. He was a signatory to the Biak Na Bato convention, but a steadfast dissenter to the Treaty of Biak Na Bato, which asked for peace and reforms. He preferred independence. Fabio Mamerto Rivas Santos (11 May 1932 – 11 August 2018) was a Dominican Roman Catholic prelate. Born in Cabirmota, La Vega, Rivas Santos was ordained to the priesthood in 1965.
