Mamadou Keita (basketball)
Mamadou Keita (born 1 February 1993) is a Malian basketball player who plays for Stade Malien of the Ligue 1 and plays for the Mali national basketball team. Standing at , he plays as shooting guard or point guard. Professional career Keita started his career with USFAS Bamako and was the MVP of the Malian Ligue 1 in the 2017–18 season. In the 2018–19 season, Keita played in Algeria with OS Bordj Bou Arréridj. In 2019, Keita joined the AS Police and helped them qualify for the inaugural season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). He was also on the Police roster for the 2021 BAL season and average 14.3 points in three group stage games. In October 2021, Keita was on the roster of Guinean champions SLAC to play in the 2022 BAL Qualifying Tournaments. In 2022, he joined Stade Malien. Seydou Legacy Athlétique Club, commonly known as SLAC, is a Guinean basketball team from Conakry. The team plays in the Ligue 1, as well as in the Basketball Africa League (BAL) as of the 2022 season. SLAC has won the Ligue 1 championship six times in history. 2021 AfroBasket
FIBA AfroBasket 2021 was the 30th edition of the FIBA AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was hosted by Rwanda for the first time. It was originally scheduled to take place between 17 and 29 August 2021, but it was moved back a week due to the COVID-19 pandemic, to 24 August to 5 September 2021. The tournament featured 16 teams, with South Sudan debuting at the AfroBasket stage. Tunisia was the defending champion, having won the 2017 tournament and they defended their title with a final win over Ivory Coast, while Senegal won the bronze medal. Host selection In June 2019, FIBA Africa announced that Rwanda hosts the 2021 FIBA AfroBasket outbesting the bids of Senegal, Ivory Coast, and DR Congo. The 2019 FIBA AfroCan was the inaugural edition of the AfroCan, a men's basketball continental competition of Africa. FIBA AfroBasket 2017 was the 29th edition of the AfroBasket, a men's basketball continental championship of Africa. The tournament was jointly hosted by Tunisia and Senegal. Angola was proposed by FIBA Africa to host the tournament, an offer declined as the country is holding general elections in the same period. Tunisia won their second title after defeating Nigeria 77–65 in the final, while Senegal caught the third place by beating Morocco 73–62.
