Mama Steps Out
''Mama Steps Out'' is a 1937 American comedy film directed by George B. Seitz and written by Anita Loos. The film stars Guy Kibbee, Alice Brady, Betty Furness, Dennis Morgan, Gene Lockhart and Edward Norris. The film was released on February 5, 1937, by Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer. Plot After inheriting a fortune, the Cuppy family of Fort Wayne, Indiana go to France to "broaden" their cultural outlook, although father Leonard (Guy Kibbee), a perfume manufacturer, and daughter Leila (Betty Furness) are not as enthusiastic as mother Ada (Alice Brady). On the way to France, Leila sees Chuck Thompson (Dennis Morgan), a singer on board their ship, whom she used to know, but he refuses to return her enthusiastic attempts to start a romance. Betty Furness
Elizabeth Mary Furness (January 3, 1916 – April 2, 1994) was an American actress, consumer advocate, and current affairs commentator. Early years Furness was born in Manhattan, the daughter of wealthy business executive George Choate Furness and his wife Florence. She attended the Brearley School and Bennett Junior College. Furness made her stage debut in the school holidays in the title role of ''Alice in Wonderland''. She also posed for commercial advertising. She began her professional career as a model before being noticed by a talent scout and being signed to a film contract in 1932 by RKO Studios. Her first film role was as the "Thirteenth Woman" in the film ''Thirteen Women'' (1932) but her scenes were deleted before the film's release. Adrienne D'Ambricourt (born Adrienne DuNontier; 2 June 1878 – 6 December 1957) was a French-American actress of the silent and sound film eras. She was born in Paris, and emigrated to the United States after the end of World War I. Biography She began acting in the 1922 Gershwin Broadway musical comedy, ''The French Doll'', in which she had one of the main roles, "Baroness Mazulier". Francesco Giuseppe "Frank" Puglia (9 March 1892 – 25 October 1975) was an Italian-American film actor. He had small, but memorable roles in films including ''Casablanca'' (a Moroccan rug merchant), ''Now, Voyager'' and ''The Jungle Book''.
