''Malásia'' is the twelfth album by Brazilian singer and songwriter Djavan released in 1996. The album opens with the song "O Que foi My Love?", a jazz accelerated ending in the form of blues; "Sêca", which talks about the drought in northeastern jungle; "Nem Um Dia" biggest hit of the album on the radio FM to come to the soundtrack of the telenovela "Por Amor" in 1997, "Não Deu", where as a songwriter Djavan embodies the feminine soul to compose the song, "Deixa O Sol Sair", which is based on samba, "Tenha Calma" which had already been made for over a decade, and performed by Maria Bethânia, and "Não Deu", another with a self-lyrical female. The last three songs are cover versions or versions of other songs: "Coração Leviano" is a remake of a successful samba composer Paulinho da Viola, "Sorri (Smile)" is a remake of the song "Smile" by Charlie Chaplin, and "Correnteza" is a remake of a song by Tom Jobim, Luiz Bonfá partnered with. Djavan Caetano Viana (; born 27 January 1949) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter. Early life and career Djavan was born in Maceió, Brazil to a white father of Dutch descent and a black mother. He later formed the group Luz, Som, Dimensão (LSD – "Light, Sound, Dimension"), playing Beatles' material. In 1973, Djavan moved to Rio de Janeiro and started singing soap opera soundtracks. His first album, ''A Voz, o Violão e a Arte de Djavan'', was recorded in 1976 and included the hit song "Flor de Lis". Stevie Wonder was a guest on the album ''Luz''. Blues
Blues is a music genre and musical form which originated in the Deep South of the United States around the 1860s. Tenor Saxophone
The tenor saxophone is a medium-sized member of the saxophone family, a group of instruments invented by Adolphe Sax in the 1840s. The tenor and the alto are the two most commonly used saxophones. The tenor is pitched in the key of B (while the alto is pitched in the key of E), and written as a transposing instrument in the treble clef, sounding an octave and a major second lower than the written pitch. Modern tenor saxophones which have a high F key have a range from A2 to E5 (concert) and are therefore pitched one octave below the soprano saxophone. Arthur Maia
Arthur Maia (9 April 1962 – 15 December 2018) was a Brazilian composer and musician. Maia played with musicians such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, Marisa Monte, Lulu Santos and Ney Matogrosso. His compositions usually present a fusion of jazz, funk, swing music and reggae. Biography Arthur Maia started his musical studies playing drums, when he was still a child. When he was 15 years old, he received a bass as a gift and, influenced by his uncle Luizão Maia, a Brazilian bass player, began to practice it. Later he became a professional bass player, playing with many famous Brazilian artists, such as Ivan Lins, Luiz Melodia and Márcio Montarroyos. James John Turner Phillips (born 7 July 1902) was an English lyricist who used the pen name John Turner. Biography He ran the Peter Maurice Music Company, whose most important lyricist was Geoffrey Parsons. The company specialized in adapting songs originally in foreign languages into the English language. He would usually assign a song to Parsons and when the latter was finished, suggest some changes.
