Maluso, officially the Municipality of Maluso (Tausūg language, Tausūg: ''Dai'rah Lupah Maluso''; Chavacano language, Chavacano: ''Municipalidad de Maluso''; tgl, Bayan ng Maluso), is a 4th class municipality of the Philippines, municipality in the Philippine Province, province of Basilan, Philippines. According to the 2020 census, it has a population of 45,730 people. It is geographically situated in the Province of Basilan, on the southwestern part of the island, in close vicinity to Sulu group and Banguingui Isles, making it the third most populous town after Isabela City and Lamitan City, in terms of people living in semi-urban areas. Maluso has beautiful beaches, rivers and dynamic mangrove areas, and also home to different ethnolinguistic tribes such as Yakan, Iranun, Banguingui and Tausug, peaceably living with ''kolono'' groups from different parts of Luzon and Visayas who migrated during the commonwealth era, mostly settled permanently later on. Basilan
Basilan, officially the Province of Basilan ( cbk, Provincia de Basilan; yka, Wilayah Basilanin; tsg, Wilaya' sin Basilan; fil, Lalawigan ng Basilan), is an island province of the Philippines located primarily in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region. Basilan Island is the largest and northernmost of the major islands of the Sulu Archipelago. It is just off the southern coast of the geographic Zamboanga Peninsula. Isabela, the former capital, is a component city under the provincial government of Basilan but is administered as part of the Zamboanga Peninsula Region and is listed statistically independent. Chavacano Language
Chavacano or Chabacano is a group of Spanish-based creole languages, Spanish-based creole language varieties spoken in the Philippines. The variety spoken in Zamboanga City, located in the southern Philippine island group of Mindanao, has the highest concentration of speakers. Other currently existing varieties are found in Cavite City and Ternate, located in the Cavite province on the island of Luzon. Chavacano is the only Spanish-based Creole language, creole in Asia. The different varieties of Chavacano differ in certain aspects like vocabulary but they are generally mutually intelligible by speakers of these varieties, especially between neighboring varieties. Tausūg Language
Tausug (; Jawi: ; ms, Bahasa Suluk) is an Austronesian language spoken in the province of Sulu in the Philippines and in the eastern area of the state of Sabah, Malaysia, by the Tausūg people. It is widely spoken in the Sulu Archipelago (Sulu, Tawi-Tawi, and Basilan), the Zamboanga Peninsula (Zamboanga del Norte, Zamboanga Sibugay, Zamboanga del Sur, and Zamboanga City), southern Palawan, and Malaysia (eastern Sabah). Tausug has some lexical similarities or near similarities with Surigaonon language of the provinces Surigao del Norte, Surigao del Sur, and Agusan del Sur and with the Butuanon language of Agusan del Norte; it has also some vocabulary similarities with Sugbuanon, Bicolano, and with other Philippine languages.
