Malti Bedekar
Malati Vishram Bedekar (Devanagari: मालती विश्राम बेडेकर) (18 March 1905 – 7 May 2001) was a Marathi people, Marathi writer from Maharashtra, India. She was the first prominent feminist writer in Marathi literature. She also used pseudonym ''Vibhavari Shirurkar'' (Devanagari: विभावरी शिरूरकर). Biography Balutai Khare (बाळुताई खरे) was Bedekar's maiden name. She was the daughter of Anantrao and Indirabai Khare. Anantrao was a progressive thinker and educator, and Indirabai was a capable woman who successfully managed a dairy business for 25 years. Balutai later wrote a Biographical novel, semi-biographical novel ''Kharemaster'' (खरेमास्तर) after her father. Vaman Malhar Joshi
Vaman Malhar Joshi (January 21, 1882 – July 20, 1943) was a Marathi writer from Bombay Presidency, British India. Early life Joshi was born in a Deshastha Brahmin family on January 21, 1882 in the town of Tale in the Konkan region of Maharashtra. After finishing his high school education in 1900, he studied at Deccan College in Pune to receive his bachelor's and master's degrees in Philosophy in 1904 and 1906, respectively. Career Joshi served thereafter for a few years as a teacher in a nationalistic high school. (India was under British Raj in those times.) beginning in 1908, he also served as the editor of a nationalistic monthly ''Wishwa Wrutta'' (विश्ववृत्त). Soon after 1908, British authorities imposed a three-year imprisonment with hard labor on him for the “crime" of publishing in ''Wishwa Wrutta'' some "inflammatory" articles suggesting overthrow of the British rule. Vishram Bedekar
Vishwanath Chintamani Bedekar (1906–1998), who professionally used the name Vishram Bedekar, was an Indian Marathi-language writer and film director. Bedekar was born on August 13, 1906 in Amravati. After receiving his college degree in Amravati, he went to Nagpur for his post-graduate studies. During his college days, he was drawn to English literature and theater. He moved to Pune in the 1930s. In 1938, he married Malati Bedekar, (whose maiden name was Balutai Khare). Literary work Bedekar wrote his only novel ''Ranangan'' in 1939. It portrayed romantic love between an Indian youth and a German Jewish girl against the backdrop of World War II, and created a storm in literary circles in his times, and was translated into English in 2021. The novel was based on Bedekar’s own experience on an ocean voyage in 1938 from Europe to India in which he encountered a number of Jews fleeing German persecution.
