Tonk District
Tonk district is a district of the state of Rajasthan in western India. The city of Tonk is the administrative headquarters of the district. The district is bounded on the north by Jaipur district, on the east by Sawai Madhopur district, on the southeast by Kota district, on the south by Bundi district, on the southwest by Bhilwara district, and on the west by Ajmer district. Karpoor Chandra Kulish
Karpoor Chandra Kulish (20 March 1926 – 17 January 2006) was the founder of Rajasthan Patrika, a Hindi language newspaper of Rajasthan, India. Born in Jain family, State Rajasthan Soda village in Malpura tehsil in Tonk district in 1926 he started his career in journalism as an employee in a newspaper. On 7 March 1956, Kulish started his own newspaper, which became no. 1 in Rajasthan. He is best remembered for his fearless journalism. His family consists of his wife, two sons and one daughter. Kulish retired from Rajasthan Patrika on 20 March 1986. Literary works Among his literary works, "America Ek Vihangam Drishti" and "Mein Dekhta Chala Gaya" gained a lot of recognition. His biography is in Hindi in form of conversations with Kulish under a title "Dharapravah". Shri Kalyan Temple also Knows as Diggi Kalyan , Shri ji is a temple in Diggi, a town in Malpura tehsil, Tonk district, Rajasthan. Kalyan ji is incarnation of lord Vishnu. The temple was supposedly built by King Digva 5600 years ago. History As per the saying, once Urvashi (the ''Apsara'') was dancing in the Dev Indra's darbar. Banas River
The Banas is a river which lies entirely within the state of Rajasthan in western India. It is a tributary of the Chambal River, itself a tributary of the Yamuna, which in turn merges into the Ganga. The Banas is approximately 512 kilometres in length. The name "Banaas" literally translates as "forest-hope" (Ban-aas) meaning "Hope-of-the-forest" or 'Van Ki Aasha.' The river originates in the Veron ka Math situated in Khamnor Hills of the Aravalli Range, about 5 km from Kumbhalgarh in Rajsamand district. It flows northeast through the Mewar region of Rajasthan, then across Hadavati before meeting the Chambal near the village of Rameshwar in Sawai Madhopur District. The Banas drains a basin of 45,833 km2, and lies entirely within Rajasthan.
