Dannel Malloy
Dannel Patrick Malloy (; born July 21, 1955) is an American politician, who served as the 88th governor of Connecticut from 2011 to 2019. A member of the Democratic Party, he chaired the Democratic Governors Association from 2016 to 2017. On July 1, 2019, he began his tenure as the Chancellor of the University of Maine System. Born in Stamford, Connecticut, Malloy attended Boston College for both undergraduate and law degrees. Malloy began his career as an assistant district attorney in New York in 1980 before moving back to Stamford and entering private practice. He served on the Stamford board of finance from 1984 to 1994 before being elected Mayor of Stamford. He served four terms as mayor from December 1995 to December 2009. Malloy ran unsuccessfully for Governor of Connecticut in 2006, losing the Democratic primary to John DeStefano, Jr., the Mayor of New Haven, who was defeated in the general election by Republican Governor Jodi Rell. Judy Malloy (born Judith Ann Powers January 9, 1942) is a poet whose works embrace the intersection of hypernarrative, magic realism, and information art. Beginning with ''Uncle Roger'' in 1986, Malloy has composed works in both new media literature and hypertext fiction. She was an early creator of online interactive and collaborative fiction on The WELL and the website ArtsWire. Malloy has served as editor and leader for books and web projects. Michael Malloy (1873 – February 22, 1933), later known as either Mike the Durable or Iron Mike, was a homeless Irishman from County Donegal who lived in New York City during the 1920s and 1930s. A former firefighter, he survived multiple murder attempts by five acquaintances, who attempted to commit homicide as a life insurance fraud. James Malloy (May 23, 1932 – May 18, 1972), was an American racecar driver. Born in Columbus, Nebraska, Malloy's family moved to Englewood, Colorado, where he attended grade school and high school. Malloy lettered in football and baseball in high school. He attended Colorado State University for two years. Early Racing Years In 1955 Malloy started driving Semi-Modifieds at Lakeside Speedway in Denver, Colorado. He continued racing at Lakeside through 1962. Daniel Malloy (6 November 1930 – 14 January 2015) was a Scottish professional Association football, football player and manager. Career Beginning his senior career at Dundee F.C., Dundee, Malloy eventually moved to Cardiff City F.C., Cardiff City in December 1955 for a fee of £17,000 as a replacement for Stan Montgomery. He made his debut against Charlton Athletic F.C., Charlton Athletic soon after and became a mainstay of the side for several years. He was quick in making his mark as a footballing hard man, playing against Middlesbrough F.C., Middlesbrough on 11 January 1958 he came up against prolific striker Brian Clough. James Edward Malloy (c. 1931 – July 5, 2018) was an American recording engineer. He worked with such artists as Elvis Presley, Duke Ellington, Johnny Cash, Henry Mancini, and Mahalia Jackson. His association with Mancini earned him a Grammy Award for engineering the soundtrack of the 1963 film ''Charade''. Background Malloy was born in Dixon, Illinois, in 1931. In 1954, he moved to California to work in the electronics industry. He gained employment with NBC and attended night school at National Electronics in Los Angeles.
