New Radiant SC
New Radiant Sports Club is a Maldivian professional football club based in Henveiru – Malé, Maldives. The club was founded on 19 August 1979 by Ahmed Waheed and his friend Ahammadhanik. New Radiant has won all domestic competitions being held in the Maldives and the club is the most successful in the Maldives in terms of trophies won and is also the most successful Maldivian club in the international arena. They were semi-finalists in the AFC Cup in 2005 and the only Maldivian club to have progressed beyond group stages in the AFC cup in multiple occasions. New Radiant has won Dhivehi League/ Dhivehi Premier League six times, FA cup 12 times out of 29 and have won the Maldives Cup Winners' Cup four times. Club Valencia is a Republic of the Maldives, Maldivian professional football (soccer), football club based in Malé. Nicknamed ''The Sunrisers'', the club most recently competed in the Dhivehi Premier League, the top tier of Football in Maldives, Maldivian football. History The notion of establishing a football club named Club Valencia arose in the late 1970s from the players of blue and gold teams participating in the Junior Football Pool organized by National Sports Academy. The first two names proposed to the government for approval as the name of the club were Youth Recreation Movement and Juvenile Valencia Atletico; both were rejected. The Dhivehi Premier League, known as the MWSC Dhivehi Premier League for sponsorship reasons, is a Maldives, Maldivian men's professional association football, football league. President's Cup (known before 2005 as the National Championship) is said to be the first football tournament in the Maldives and ''the birth of football in the Maldives''. The first tournament was held in 1946, with Customs and Naadhee Ahthamadhun sharing the trophy. POMIS Cup
The POMIS Cup (known fully as President of Maldives Invitational Soccer Cup) used to be an international club football tournament kicked off in 1987 to promote the standards of football in the Maldives. In 2003, two foreign clubs from India and Sri Lanka competed in the cup, Mahindra United and Negombo Youth. On 22 December 2014, the Football Association of Maldives (FAM) normalisation committee decided to restart POMIS Cup. Club Lagoons was a Maldivian football club based in Malé. They were one of the leading teams in Maldives during the 1980s and 1990s. They were relegated in 1996.
