Malden Town Football Club was a football club based in New Malden, Greater London, England. The club played at Combined Counties Football League level, winning the title in 1980–81, and featured in the FA Cup and FA Vase. History Playing in the Wimbledon & District League as Alpha F.C. in the early 1930s, the club switched to the Kingston and District League in 1935–36. Around the same time the club was renamed Malden F.C. After World War II, as Malden Town, the club was again a member of the Wimbledon & District League before joining the Surrey Senior League in 1950. They won the league in 1970–71, and finished in the top five every season between 1964 and 1978. The Combined Counties Football League is a regional men's football league in south-eastern England with members in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Hampshire, Hertfordshire, Jersey, Kent, Middlesex, Oxfordshire, Surrey, and the western half and south-eastern quarter of Greater London, featuring a number of professional clubs. It is sponsored by Cherry Red Records and is officially known as the Cherry Red Records Combined Counties Football League. It was founded in 1922 as the Surrey Senior League and was renamed in 1978 to the Combined Counties League. New Malden is an area in South West London, England. It is located mainly within the Royal Borough of Kingston upon Thames and the London Borough of Merton, and is from Charing Cross. The Football Association Challenge Cup, more commonly known as the FA Cup, is an annual knockout football competition in men's domestic English football. First played during the 1871–72 season, it is the oldest national football competition in the world. It is organised by and named after The Football Association (The FA). The Football Association Challenge Vase, usually referred to as the FA Vase, is an annual football competition for teams playing in Steps 5 and 6 of the English National League System (or equivalently, tier 9 or 10 of the overall English football league system). For the 2017–18 season 619 entrants were accepted, with two qualifying rounds preceding the six proper rounds, semi-finals (played over two legs) and final to be played at Wembley Stadium. Surrey Senior League
The Surrey Senior League was an English regional football league for teams based in Surrey although teams from outside the county were often admitted as well. The league existed from 1922 until 1978, when it was rebranded as the Home Counties League in an attempt to attract teams from a wider catchment area. After one season the league changed its name once again to the Combined Counties League, under which name it continues to operate.
