Paula Malcomson (born 1 June 1970) is a Northern Irish actress. She is sometimes credited as Paula Williams. Ruth Malcomson (April 16, 1906 – May 25, 1988) was Miss America in 1924, earning the title at age 18. Malcomson, a native of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania was the amateur winner in the 1923 contest and returned to defeat incumbent Mary Campbell, who was seeking her third consecutive crown. At the time, being only a couple of years old, the beauty contest was sometimes still referred to as "The Atlantic City Pageant," with the winner called "The Golden Mermaid." The Malcomson Family was an Irish Quaker family active in various businesses during the 19th century.Maria Walsh, ''Ireland's Secret Millionaires.'' 2019 History The Malcomson's business began with corn milling at Clonmel between 1793 and 1800, stores being subsequently acquired at Clonmel, Carrick-on-Suir and Waterford. David Malcomson traded under his own name until 1818, when the firm became known as David Malcomson & Sons. At this point, he held an interest in four corn stores in Clonmel and in the Corporation Mill on Little Island. He had also built or acquired (it is not known) the family home called Melview in Kellets Lane. At some stage, David started a jute factory at Carrick, but this venture was short-lived. Malcomson and Higginbotham was an architectural firm started in the nineteenth century and based in Detroit, Michigan. A successor firm, Malcomson-Greimel and Associates, still exists in Rochester, Michigan as of 2010. History Architects William G. Malcomson and William E. Higginbotham formed a partnership in 1890. The firm was retained by the Detroit Board of Education in 1895, and between 1895 and 1923 had designed over 75% of the school buildings in Detroit. The firm remained in business under various names until the present. William G. Malcomson William George Malcomson was born in 1856 in Hamilton, Ontario.
