Malcolm Young (rugby Union)
Malcolm Young (born 4 January 1946) is an English former rugby union international. Born in Northumberland, Young was educated at Cambridge University. He won his Cambridge blue for football (soccer) rather than rugby union, as a broken hand at the time meant he could only play the former sport. Young, a scrum-half, played for Gosforth RFC and was a John Player Cup-winning captain. He was capped in 10 Tests for England during the late 1970s. His first call up in 1977 came on the day of his 31st birthday and he scored a debut try, against Scotland at Twickenham. He was also part of the "Rest of the World" that toured South Africa in 1977. Mickley, Northumberland
Mickley is a cluster of small settlements and former civil parish, now in the parish of Prudhoe, in the Tyne Valley, between Prudhoe and Stocksfield in the England, English county (England), county of Northumberland, England. It lies south of the River Tyne and is accessible via the A695. The electoral ward of Mickley comprises the hamlets of Mickley Square, West Mickley (including Mount Pleasant), High Mickley, plus Cherryburn and Eltringham Farm. The population is a little under one thousand. In 1951 the parish had a population of 1862. The Mickley settlements are served by St George's Church, which was built in 1830. Other facilities in Mickley include a garden centre, two social clubs, a deli and a cafe on the A695. There is a public house (The Blue Bell Inn), dating from the 1820s, at Mount Pleasant. The ''Leicester Mercury'' is a British regional newspaper for the city of Leicester and the neighbouring counties of Leicestershire and Rutland. The paper began in the 19th century as the ''Leicester Daily Mercury'' and later changed to its present title. Early history The paper was founded by James Thompson, already proprietor of the ''Leicester Chronicle'' which he had merged with the ''Leicestershire Mercury'' ten years earlier. The ''Leicester Daily Mercury'' would be an evening paper, the first to be published in Leicester, and give extra support to the Liberal Party in the forthcoming general election.
