Malaga Railway Station
Malaga railway station is a proposed bus and railway station for the Transperth network. It is set to start construction in 2021, and open in 2023–24 as a station on the Morley–Ellenbrook railway line, serving the Perth suburbs of Alexander Heights, Ballajura, Bennett Springs, Landsdale and Malaga. Station design The design for Malaga railway station was revealed on 4 September 2021. Metronet said that it was "designed to be a 'station within a park'", and that "it draws influence from the surrounding parklands in Whiteman Park, Lightning Park and the banksia bushlands." The station's platforms are to be built in a trench below ground level, with the station entrance at ground level. A large car park and a bus interchange will be located south-east of the station. Beechboro Road North
Beechboro Road is a north–south arterial road located in the northeastern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia, connecting Morley and Bayswater with areas further north. Until the construction of the nearby section of Tonkin Highway between 1984 and 1992, and later, during the NorthLink WA road project between 2016 and 2019, Beechboro Road was one of northeastern Perth's most important routes. The road is discontinuous at Tonkin Highway, with the section from Tonkin Highway to Walter Road officially known as Beechboro Road North, and the section running through Bayswater as Beechboro Road South. Beechboro Road North is allocated State Route 53 for almost its entire length. Metronet (Western Australia)
Metronet (styled METRONET) is a multi-government agency in Western Australia. It is responsible for managing extensions to Perth's public transport network. It was formed to deliver commitments made by the McGowan Government during the 2017 election campaign. History Metronet was first proposed as a set of rail infrastructure projects in December 2012 by the opposition Labor Party as an election commitment for the then-upcoming 2013 election. Morley–Ellenbrook Line
The Morley–Ellenbrook line is a planned suburban rail service between the Perth central business district and Ellenbrook in Western Australia. Construction began in 2021 as part of Metronet. History A passenger railway through Morley, branching from the Midland line at Bayswater, was included in the 1955 Stephenson-Hepburn Report. However, the government did not incorporate it into the Metropolitan Region Scheme derived from the report when it was adopted in 1963. A rail line to Ellenbrook was first proposed by the Carpenter Government as an election commitment in the lead up to the 2008 election. The then-opposition Liberal Party matched the commitment, and while they continued to express support for some time after winning the election, a feasibility study was cancelled in 2009 and ultimately nothing eventuated. Ellenbrook Railway Station, Perth
Ellenbrook railway station is a proposed bus and railway station for the Transperth network. Construction began in January 2022, and is expected to open in 2024 as the terminus of the Morley–Ellenbrook railway line, serving the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook, Western Australia. Station design Ellenbrook station will feature a island platform, half of which will be sheltered. There will be two car parks either side of the station, with a total of 500 car bays. A dedicated bus interchange with 12 bus stands will be constructed as well, providing feeder bus services to nearby suburbs. Other services to be provided at the station are toilets and a kiosk. The station is deliberately going to be built slightly outside the railway alignment so that when the government wants to extend the railway line, a new station can be constructed at Ellenbrook whilst the old one is still in use. Tonkin Highway
Tonkin Highway is an north–south highway and partial freeway in Perth, Western Australia, linking Perth Airport and Kewdale with the city's north-eastern and south-eastern suburbs. As of April 2020, the northern terminus is at the interchange with Brand Highway and Great Northern Highway in Muchea, and the southern terminus is at Thomas Road in Oakford. It forms the entire length of State Route 4, and connects to several major roads. Marshall Road
Marshall Road is an east-west road in the northern suburbs of Perth, Western Australia. It is continuous with Beach Road. Route description Marshall Road starts off at a roundabout with Isodoon Street and Dayton Boulevard in a suburban development in Dayton. From there, it heads west as a four lane dual carriageway with a speed limit of . later, Marshall Road intersects with Drumpellier Drive. Lightning Swamp Bushland
Lightning Swamp Bushland is a area of natural bush and wetlands in Noranda, Western Australia, a suburb of Perth. It is bounded by Reid Highway to the north, Malaga Drive to the west and south, Matthews Close to the south and Lightning Park Recreation Centre to the east. It is classified as an A class reserve. The reserve contains several wetlands, one in the north-east and several in the south-east and south-west of the reserve. The north-eastern wetland is a Conservation Class 4 wetland. It contains water year-round due to its peaty clay base. It is a perched wetland (meaning it is not connected to groundwater), which is somewhat rare for the Swan Coastal Plain. The south-eastern and south-western wetlands are seasonal. An open stormwater drain managed by the Water Corporation flows along the length of the reserve and through them. Whiteman Park
Whiteman Park is a bushland area located north of Perth, Western Australia. The park is in the suburb of Whiteman, in the Swan Valley in the upper reaches of the Swan River. It encompasses the source of Bennett Brook - an important place of the Nyoongar people, and a source of mythology of the Wagyl and stories about Aboriginal occupancy of the area. Whiteman Park is known for its biodiversity, including more than 450 endemic plants and more than 120 vertebrate animals (some of which are rare and endangered). More than 17% of Western Australian bird species occur in Whiteman Park, including migratory birds attracted to the habitat provided by Bennett Brook and associated wetlands including Grogan's Swamp, a Conservation Category Wetland. Malaga () is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, approximately 11 kilometres north of the CBD, in the City of Swan. Early real estate development occurred in the decade before the first world war. Etymology The suburb is thought to be named after either the Spanish city of Málaga, or the Aboriginal word ''malaga'' which means ironstone. The name was approved in 1969.
