Malabo Kings
Malabo Kings BC is an Equatorial Guinean basketball club based in Malabo. The team was founded in 2011 and has won the national title twice. In its history, Malabo Kings has made three appearances in the FIBA Africa Club Champions Cup: in 2011, 2013 and 2014. During the 2014 season, the Kings were sanctioned by FIBA Africa for fraud with the identity of two players, and were given two technical losses. Malabo
Malabo ( , ; formerly Santa Isabel) is the capital of Equatorial Guinea and the province of Bioko Norte. It is located on the north coast of the island of Bioko, ( bvb, Etulá, and as ''Fernando Pó'' by the Europeans). In 2018, the city had a population of approximately 297,000 inhabitants. Spanish is the official language of the city and of the country as well, but Pichinglis is used as a language of wider communication across Bioko island, including Malabo. Malabo is the oldest city in Equatorial Guinea. Ciudad de la Paz is a planned community under construction in mainland Equatorial Guinea which was designed to replace Malabo as the capital. The FIBA Africa Basketball League (formerly named the FIBA Africa Clubs Champions Cup) was the highest caliber men's professional basketball competition for clubs until 2020, organized by the FIBA Africa and played by the champions of the leagues of the African countries. The league was replaced by the Basketball Africa League (BAL) from 2020. History The competition was founded in 1971. A year later, in 1972, Hit Trésor SC won the inaugural championship. For the first 33 years in existence, it was a biennial league. From 2004, the ACC was held yearly. The Liga Nacional de Baloncesto (LNB) is the top men's professional basketball league in the Dominican Republic. Established in 2005, six teams compete annually between September and October. Basketball Africa League
The Basketball Africa League (BAL) is Africa's premier men's basketball league. The league consists of twelve teams, each qualified through their domestic competition, similar to the format of the UEFA Champions League. The league is a joint effort between the National Basketball Association (NBA) and International Basketball Federation (FIBA) with sponsorship from Nike, Inc., Nike, Air Jordan and Pepsi. Its 2021 BAL season, inaugural season started with the qualifying rounds in October 2019 and the regular season in May 2021. The competition replaces FIBA's Africa Basketball League as the continent's top-tier league. 2022 BAL Qualifying Tournaments
The qualification tournaments for the 2022 BAL season were the qualification rounds for the second season of the Basketball Africa League (BAL). The tournaments began on 19 October 2021 and ended 16 December 2021. The competition consisted out of two stages: the first round and the elite 16. Six teams advanced to the group phase of the BAL.
