Nikolaos Makris
Nikolaos Makris ( el, Νικόλαος Μακρής, 1829–1911) was a Hellenic Army General and politician. Nikolaos Makris was born in Missolonghi in 1829. He was the son of Dimitrios Makris, a military leader during the Greek War of Independence of 1821. He entered the Hellenic Army and was sent to France for training. After his return, he served in various command and staff positions, and eventually commanded the Athens police and became head of the Hellenic Gendarmerie. He participated in the Greco-Turkish War of 1897 as commander of the 1st Infantry Division. After the war, he left the army with the rank of Major General. He was elected MP for his native prefecture of Aetolia-Acarnania several times. Nea Makri ( el, Νέα Μάκρη) is a town in East Attica, Greece. Since the local government reform of 2011, it has been a municipal unit within the municipality of Marathon. The municipal unit has an area of 36.662 km2. It is part of the Athens metropolitan area. Makri (Greek: Μάκρη) is a village and a municipal district of the city of Alexandroupoli, Evros regional unit, Greece. Ikaria
Icaria, also spelled Ikaria ( el, Ικαρία), is a Greek island in the Aegean Sea, 10 nautical miles (19 km) southwest of Samos. Vassilis Makris ( el, Βασίλης Μακρής, born 1958) is a Greek photographer. Life and work Makris was born in Patras, Greece. He started working as a professional photographer in 1985, initially focusing on stage photography. In 1987, he visited New York City and photographed various museums and historical buildings. Drawn by the subject, he switched his specialization to architectural photography and in 1989, started shooting private residences and interior spaces in Los Angeles, USA. Orestis Makris ( el, Ορέστης Μακρής; 30 September 1898 – 29 January 1975) was a Greek actor and tenor. Biography Makris graduated from the Athens Conservatoire and first entered the scene as a tenor in the troupe of Rosalia Nika in 1925. He later joined the Papaioannou troupe, before moving to more comedic roles. Makris excelled in the portrayal of folk characters, especially the stock role of the "drunkard". Memos Makris
Memos Makris ( el, Μέμος Μακρής, hu, Makrisz Agamemnon) (born April 1, 1913, in Patras – died May 26, 1993, in Athens) was a prominent Greek sculptor. He spent his early childhood in Patras but his family moved to Athens in 1919. He studied at the Athens School of Fine Arts and soon became involved in the artistic and cultural life of the 1930s. During the German Occupation Makris joined the National Resistance. After the liberation he continued his studies in Paris. He was deported from France in 1950 due to his political allegiance to the Left and sought political asylum in Hungary. In Hungary he became an important figure in the country's political and cultural life.
