Making Waves (The Nolans Album)
''Making Waves'' is a 1980 album released by the pop group The Nolans. In the UK, the album went gold and featured four top 20 singles. Worldwide, it became their biggest-selling album selling over 5 million copies. It was certified double platinum in Australia and reached No.2 in Sweden and Ireland and No.1 in New Zealand and Japan. Produced by Ben Findon and Nicky Graham, the album contained the top 10 hits "Gotta Pull Myself Together" and "Attention to Me". Background The Nolans began working on ''Making Waves'' shortly after their name change (from The Nolan Sisters) in early 1980. The single "Don't Make Waves", taken from the album and released in April 1980, reached number 12 on the UK charts. The Nolans
The Nolans are an Anglo-Irish girl group who formed in Blackpool in 1974 as the Nolan Sisters, before changing their name in 1980. Often referred to as Ireland's ''First Family of Music'', they were the first Irish performing family to achieve international success, preceding the likes of the Corrs. Between 1979 and 1982, the group had seven international hits, including " I'm In the Mood for Dancing", "Gotta Pull Myself Together", "Who's Gonna Rock You", "Attention to Me" and "Chemistry". They are one of the world's biggest selling girl groups. Smokey Robinson
William "Smokey" Robinson Jr. (born February 19, 1940) is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and former record executive director. He was the founder and front man of the Motown vocal group the Miracles, for which he was also chief songwriter and producer. He led the group from its 1955 origins as "the Five Chimes" until 1972, when he announced his retirement from the group to focus on his role as Motown's vice president. However, Robinson returned to the music industry as a solo artist the following year. Robinson left Motown Records in 1990, following the sale of the company two years earlier. Ronald Norman Miller (October 5, 1932 – July 23, 2007) was an American popular songwriter and record producer who wrote for Motown artists in the 1960s and 1970s and attained many Top 10 hits.
