Anton Semenovich Makarenko ( ua , Анто́н Семенович Мака́ренко, 13 January 1888 – 1 April 1939), a Ukrainian and Soviet educator, social worker and writer, became the most influential educational theorist in the Soviet Union; he promoted democratic ideas and principles in educational theory and practice. Anton Makarenko ( uk, Антон Макаренко; born 22 August 1988) is a Ukrainian footballer who plays as a midfielder for Landesliga Bayern club TSV Neudrossenfeld. He is also assistant coach of the club. Career Makarenko began his career with SV Kauerhof and joined later the youth team from 1. FC Nürnberg. He remained there until 2006 when he signed his first professional contract with FC Augsburg. On 23 January 2009, he moved on loan to SSV Reutlingen on a six-month deal. The move was then made permanent. Makarenko joined SV Babelsberg 03 in June 2010, who had recently won promotion to the 3. Liga. He managed to stay up in the third division in the following two years with the club, scoring 13 goals in 68 appearances. Mikhail Makarenko
Mikhail Yanovitch Makarenko (1931 – 15 March 2007), né Moishe Hershkovich, also Gershkovich, also spelled as Michail Janovitch Makarenko, was a human rights activist, born in Romania to Orthodox Jewish parents, Yankel Hershkovich and Malka Weisman. When he was eight years old he ran away from home to live in Russia. During World War II, from age 10 to 13, he was a "Son of the Regiment", bringing water and food to the troops. In 1954 he married Lyudmila Makarenko and took her family name. They had son Sergei and two daughters, Liza and Olga. He actually married and divorced Lyudmila twice. He spent a total of eleven years in prison for what the Soviet government considered to be dissident activities. His longest imprisonment was a result of a 1970 arrest for exhibiting the work of Russian avant-garde artists. By the 18th century almost all Ukrainians had family names. Most Ukrainian surnames (and surnames in Slavic languages in general) are formed by adding possessive and other suffixes to given names, place names, professions and other words.
