Maize High School is a public high school located in Maize, Kansas, United States. It is operated by Maize USD 266 school district, and serves students in grades 9-12. The current principal is Chris Botts. Maize High School is one of two high schools located within the city limits of Maize, Kansas. The school colors are red and white, although black is considered an unofficial third color. The average annual enrollment is approximately 2,000 students. The athletic programs at Maize High School are known as the Eagles and compete in the 5A division, the second largest division in the state of Kansas according to the Kansas State High School Activities Association. Maize, Kansas
Maize is a city in Sedgwick County, Kansas, United States, and a suburb of Wichita. As of the 2020 census, the population of the city was 5,735. The name Maize, derived from a Native American word for "corn", was named because it is located within the Corn Belt. History The Maize Town Company, led by N. F. Neiderlander, founded Maize in 1886 at the first stop outside of Wichita on the Wichita and Colorado Railway. The post office opened that same year as did the town's first church, having relocated from nearby. Maize's first school opened in 1887; its first newspaper opened in 1895. Maize State Bank, the town's first financial institution, opened in 1901, and, by 1908, a business community had emerged. In 1915, the Maize Town Company dissolved, and Maize was incorporated as a city. Track and field is a sport that includes athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing skills. The name is derived from where the sport takes place, a running track and a grass field for the throwing and some of the jumping events. Maize South High School is a fully accredited public high school in Wichita, Kansas, operated by Maize USD 266 school district, and serves students in grades 9–12. Maize South High School is one of two high schools in the Maize School District. The official school colors are vegas gold, black, and white. Annual enrollment numbers are approximately 1,100 students. Maize South competes as the Mavericks in the 5A classification of the Kansas State High School Activities Association. United States Women's National Softball Team
The United States women's national softball team is the national softball team of the United States. It is governed by USA Softball (formerly known as the Amateur Softball Association) and takes part in international softball competitions. The US team has been dominant in international play, taking the gold medal in three straight Olympics and seven straight world championships. They won the silver medal at the 2008 and 2020 Summer Olympics. In the 2004 Olympics the team held its opponents to one run scored in 7 games. Kelsey Stewart
Kelsey Stewart (born August 15, 1994) is an American softball player. She won two softball National Championships with Florida Gators softball and has been named a Second Team and two-time First Team All- SEC player, including being named 2015 SEC Player of the Year. She was also chosen a National Fastpitch Coaches Association First Team All-American in 2014–15. She graduated as a member of the select 300 hits, 200 runs, 100 stolen bases club. Ryan Schraeder (born May 4, 1988) is a former American football offensive tackle. He was signed by the Atlanta Falcons as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He played college football at Valdosta State. Early years Schraeder did not play high school football. He walked-on to the Butler Community College football team three days before camp started and ended up making the team. He hit a late growth spurt and grew a foot in one year. Nathan Daniel Robertson, (born September 3, 1977) is a former professional baseball pitcher. He played in Major League Baseball for the Florida Marlins, Detroit Tigers and Philadelphia Phillies. Career Florida Marlins Robertson attended Wichita State University and was drafted by the Florida Marlins in the fifth round of the 1999 Major League Baseball draft. Robertson underwent Tommy John surgery in 1998 while a sophomore at Wichita State.
