Maison Morisset
The Maison Morisset (also known by its nickname "La Brimbale"Denis Lavallée, René Pronovost, La Maison Morisset, , monograph, 37 pages, 2007.) is a farmhouse built in 1678 during the seigneurial system of New France. Located in the municipality of Sainte-Famille on Île d'Orléans, the Maison Morisset was classified as a historic site and building by the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec on June 7, 1962. It is reputed to be the oldest stone house in the province of Quebec. In addition to its historical and architectural interest, the house has appeared in a large number of books and works of art, including several television appearances. Île D'Orléans
Île d'Orléans (; en, Island of Orleans) is an island located in the Saint Lawrence River about east of downtown Quebec City, Quebec, Canada. It was one of the first parts of the province to be colonized by the French, and a large percentage of French Canadians can trace ancestry to early residents of the island. The island has been described as the "microcosm of traditional Quebec and as the birthplace of francophones in North America." It has about 7,000 inhabitants, spread over 6 villages. The island is accessible from the mainland via the Île d'Orléans Bridge from Beauport. New France
New France (french: Nouvelle-France) was the area colonized by France in North America, beginning with the exploration of the Gulf of Saint Lawrence by Jacques Cartier in 1534 and ending with the cession of New France to Great Britain and Spain in 1763 under the Treaty of Paris. Yves Thériault
Yves Thériault, OC (November 27, 1915 – October 20, 1983) was a Canadian author. He was born in Quebec City to Alcide and Aurore (Nadeau) Thériault. On April 21, 1942, he married Germaine Blanchet, with whom he had two children, Marie-José and Yves-Michel. As a child he dropped out of school at the age of 15, holding many miscellaneous jobs until he became a known writer. Perhaps his best-known work is '' Agaguk'', a story of cultural conflict between Inuit and white men, published in 1958. In 1975, he was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in recognition for being "one of the most prolific writers and best-known novelists in Canada".
