Maio Regional Football Association (Portuguese: ''Associação Regional de Futebol do Maio'', abbreviation: ''ARFMS'') is a football (soccer) association covering the island of Maio . It is headquartered in Cidade do Maio. It is affiliated to the Capeverdean Football Federation. Its current president is Odílio (Odílio Neves) who became in late 2016. The league are several that have a premier and a second division, six clubs participate in the premier and five clubs participate in the second division, a club with the most points promotes into the regional premier division the following season while the last placed club from the regional premier division is relegated into the second division the following season. The Maio Island League is a regional championship played in Maio Island, Cape Verde. The competition is organized by the Maio Regional Football Association (Associação Regional do Maio de Futebol, ARMF). The winner of the championship plays in Cape Verdean football Championships of each season. Since 2015, the last place club relegates and Beira-Mar was the first club to be relegated. Estádio Municipal 20 de Janeiro is a multi-use stadium in Maio, Cape Verde. Its location is east of the town center of Cidade do Maio about 300 meters nearly south of the Maio- Figueira da Horta Road (EN3-MA01), the Maio Circular Route and is in the residential sector. It stadium is named after a holiday named Heroes Day It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home stadium of Académico 83 and Onze Unidos. Every other clubs from the island based outside Cidade do Maio including Académica da Calheta and Barreirense plays at the stadium.
