Mainstream Country (radio Network)
Mainstream Country, known on-air as The Best of the New and Gold: Your Kind of Country, was a 24-hour music format produced by Westwood One. Its playlist is composed of classic country, classic and Country music, modern country music in the mid-1980s to the present. "Mainstream Country" also includes a daily syndicated Young and Verna morning show, which is also offered by its sister outlet Hot Country as well as independently syndicated. Its competitors were "Country Today" and "The Bar (radio network), The Bar" by Waitt Radio Networks, Waitt, CD Country and U.S. Country by Jones Radio Networks, Jones, however those assets were absorbed by Triton Media Group, leaving Citadel Media's Today's Best Country and Real Country the only competitors. The Jones and Waitt networks, except for "The Bar," will be integrated into Mainstream Country and other Dial Global country formats in late 2008 and early 2009. Dial Global Local (formerly Waitt Radio Networks) was a radio network, national radio network based in Omaha, Nebraska, formerly owned by NRG Media and purchased in April 2008 by Triton Radio Networks. As a subsidiary of Dial Global, they specialized in 24-hour formats for affiliated radio stations across the United States and Canada which are specifically localized for their client stations, although they also were known for Advertising, commercial production services. Real Country
Real Country is a 24-hour radio format produced by Westwood One. Real Country is marketed at the demographic of men aged 35 to 64. Its programming consists of a fairly broad playlist of "Today's Stars and the Legends." Classic country is the station's primary core, with frequent airplay of artists such as George Jones and Johnny Cash, while the station also plays newer hits, particularly by established neotraditional country artists such as George Strait and Alan Jackson. More contemporary artists can be heard on Westwood One's other country format, Best Country Today. Its direct competitor was " True Country" by Dial Global. It is designed to appeal to a wide range of listeners, concentrating on a younger audience than would generally listen to traditional Country stations. Cumulus Media Networks was an American radio network owned and operated by Cumulus Media. From 2011 until its merger with Westwood One, it controlled many of the radio assets formerly belonging to the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), which was broken up in 2007; Cumulus owned the portion of the network that was purchased by Citadel Broadcasting that year. Scripps Company which sold Triton to IHeartMedia in October 2020.
