Maimonides Medical Center is a non-profit, non-sectarian hospital located in Borough Park, in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, in the U.S. state of New York. Maimonides is both a treatment facility and academic medical center with 711 beds, and more than 70 primary care and sub-specialty programs. As of August 1, 2016, Maimonides Medical Center was an adult and pediatric trauma center, and Brooklyn's only pediatric trauma center. Norbert Pearlroth
Norbert Pearlroth (May 7, 1893 – April 14, 1983) was a professional researcher and polyglot, and the primary researcher for the '' Ripley's Believe It or Not!'' cartoon panel from 1923 until 1975. Biography Pearlroth was born May 7, 1893, in Tarnów, in what is now southern Poland, at the time part of the Habsburg Empire. He attended university in Kraków and was planning to become a lawyer, but the events of World War I took him away from his studies. He came to the United States in 1920. He was working as a teller in a New York City bank in 1923 when he met Robert Ripley, who was in the process of expanding his syndicated ''Believe It or Not!'' newspaper panel from sports trivia to general interest and was looking for someone who could read foreign journals. Maimonides Park
Maimonides Park (formerly MCU Park and KeySpan Park) is a minor league baseball stadium on the Riegelmann Boardwalk in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York City. The home team and primary tenant is the New York Mets-affiliated Brooklyn Cyclones of the South Atlantic League. The stadium has also hosted other teams as well. The NYU Violets Baseball team began playing at Maimonides Park in 2015, and the New York Cosmos soccer team of the NASL played the 2017 NASL season there. Brooklyn Cyclones
The Brooklyn Cyclones are a Minor League Baseball team of the South Atlantic League and the High-A affiliate of the New York Mets. They are based in the New York City borough of Brooklyn, and play at Maimonides Park, just off the Coney Island Boardwalk. From their founding in 2001 through 2020, the Cyclones competed in the Class A Short Season New York–Penn League (NYPL). Brooklyn won six division titles and two NYPL championships. Needle Aspiration Biopsy
Fine-needle aspiration (FNA) is a diagnostic procedure used to investigate lumps or masses. In this technique, a thin (23–25 gauge (0.52 to 0.64 mm outer diameter)), hollow needle is inserted into the mass for sampling of cells that, after being stained, are examined under a microscope (biopsy). The sampling and biopsy considered together are called fine-needle aspiration biopsy (FNAB) or fine-needle aspiration cytology (FNAC) (the latter to emphasize that any aspiration biopsy involves cytopathology, not histopathology). Fine-needle aspiration biopsies are very safe minor surgical procedures. Often, a major surgical (excisional or open) biopsy can be avoided by performing a needle aspiration biopsy instead, eliminating the need for hospitalization.
