Mai Mihara
is a Japanese competitive figure skater. She is the 2022 Grand Prix Final champion, a two-time Four Continents champion (2017, 2022), the 2018 Four Continents silver medalist, the 2019 Four Continents bronze medalist, the 2022 MK John Wilson Trophy champion, the 2022 Grand Prix of Espoo champion, and a two-time Japanese national medalist (silver in 2022 and bronze in 2016). Personal life Mihara was born on 22 August 1999 in Kobe, Hyōgo Prefecture, Japan. She began skating during her second year of elementary school, after watching Mao Asada's figure skating performances on TV. Mihara graduated from Ashiya High School in 2018, then obtained an undergraduate degree at Konan University in 2022. Mihara suffers from juvenile idiopathic arthritis, skating despite the disease. In 2017, she signed an affiliation agreement with Sysmex, a Japanese company involved with healthcare and the promotion of healthy lifestyles. 2019 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2019 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held on February 7–10, 2019 in Anaheim, California, United States. Held annually since 1999, the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The 2017 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships was an international figure skating competition in the 2016–17 figure skating season. It was held at the Gangneung Ice Arena in Gangneung, South Korea on February 16–19. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pair skating, and ice dancing. The competition served as the figure skating test event for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang. Four Continents Figure Skating Championships
The Four Continents Figure Skating Championships (4CC) is an annual figure skating competition. The International Skating Union established it in 1999 to provide skaters representing non-African and non-European countries with a similar competition to the much older European Figure Skating Championships. The event's name refers to North America and South America are both the Americas, Asia and Oceania (four of the continents represented in the Olympic rings, omitting Africa and Europe). Medals are awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, ladies' singles, pairs, and ice dance. Historically, the 4CC has been dominated by just four countries – Canada, China, Japan, and the United States – which have won a combined 267 out of 276 possible medals. Figure skating is a sport in which individuals, pairs, or groups perform on figure skates on ice. It was the first winter sport to be included in the Olympic Games, when contested at the 1908 Olympics in London. Single Skating
Single skating is a discipline of figure skating in which male and female skaters compete individually. Men's singles and women's singles are governed by the International Skating Union (ISU). Figure skating is the oldest winter sport contested at the Olympics, with men's and women's single skating appearing as two of the four figure skating events at the London Games in 1908. Single skaters are required to perform two segments in all international competitions, the short program and the free skating program. 2022–23 Grand Prix Of Figure Skating Final
The 2022–23 Grand Prix of Figure Skating Final and ISU Junior Grand Prix Final was held from December 8–11, 2022 at the Torino Palavela in Turin, Italy. The combined event was the culmination of two international series — the Grand Prix of Figure Skating and the Junior Grand Prix. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pair skating, and ice dance on the senior and junior levels. The previous Grand Prix Final in 2019 took place in Turin as well. The finals in 2020 and 2021 were cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The 2022 Four Continents Figure Skating Championships were held from January 18–23, 2022 in Tallinn, Estonia. Held annually since 1999 (except 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic), the competition featured skaters from the Americas, Asia, Africa, and Oceania. Medals were awarded in the disciplines of men's singles, women's singles, pairs, and ice dance. Although the event was designed for non-European skaters, the International Skating Union asked the Estonian Skating Union, the host of the 2022 European Championships, to host the Four Continents Championships in the same venue after no non-European ISU members applied to host following the Chinese Skating Association's withdrawal.
